Silicones in shampoo

Hi, I am curious to know everyone’s opinion on silicones in shampoos/conditioners.  Are they really bad? Should be avoided? Aren’t silicones beneficial for super frizzy hair?

@bronderRose3 One that comes to mind is Kérastase Chronologiste Youth Revitalizing Shampoo 8.5 fl oz/ 250 ml  . It made my hair look great (i.e., smooth and frizz-free, but not greasey), but I was not a fan of the fragrance, so I have not repurchased.

@bronderRose3 Most silicones in hair products these days are water soluble so they don't accumulate. I like shampoos and conditioners with silicones because they help give a little slip to help distribute the product and prevent tangling.

Absolutely nothing wrong with silicones or sulfates. I don’t actively try to avoid either.

@bronderRose3 I believe my shampoo, Redken All Soft Mega Shampoo, has silicones in it and it has never looked better!

@bronderRose3I used silicone and sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners for a long time. I went back to silicones because I live in a very dry climate and helps seal in the moisture in my hair. From what I understand, as with everything, there are different types of silicones and some are better quality than others. I think they're fine in products as long as you use a clarifiying shampoo every once in a while to avoid buildup.
