Scalp serum

Hi,

I have noticed that my scalp has been dry and getting white flakes that look like dandruff. I am between getting the briogeo scalp serum or the ceremonia scalp pre wash. Does anyone have a preference or know which would be better?

Hi! I’ve dealt with something similar before, and dry scalp with white flakes can definitely be frustrating. Between the Briogeo scalp serum and the Ceremonia scalp pre-wash, it really depends on your main concern.

If your scalp is mostly dry and irritated, a hydrating scalp serum might be better for regular use since it helps soothe and rebalance the scalp over time. On the other hand, a pre-wash treatment works well if you’re dealing with buildup along with dryness, as it helps cleanse and prep the scalp before shampooing.

You could also try incorporating a gentle clarifying routine once a week and then follow up with a nourishing serum. And if you’re planning to purchase any hair care products, it’s always worth checking for deals like a Flexispot Coupon to save a bit while maintaining your hair care routine.

Re: Scalp serum

Hi @MaliaA12 ! If you have dandruff, neither one of those will be as helpful as a dandruff shampoo containing pyrithione zinc (Vanicream Dandruff Shampoo, CeraVe Dandruff Shampoo, etc.), selenium sulfide (Selsun Blue), or ketoconazole (Nizoral).

But if you just need relief from a dry scalp… between Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL and Ceremonia Aceite de Moska Pre-Shampoo Scalp & Hair Oil 2 oz / 60 mL, I’d choose Ceremonia’s because it contains no perfuming essential oils (though it is fragranced). My scalp can handle only so much of those oils before throwing a burning inflamed tantrum. Your experience may vary though, especially if your scalp’s not sensitive to ginger oil and peppermint oil.

My dry scalp likes The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid Scalp Serum 60ml. It contains several hydrating ingredients plus moisturizing squalane. Bonus points for being lightweight and not making my scalp and hair feel all greasy.

@MaliaA12 @Sephora employee here. I love the Briogeo one.

Re: Scalp serum

@MaliaA12 , I have both.  The scalp scrub is exactly what it is, a exfoliator for your scalp.  The ceremonia pre-wash oil is an oil, so it'll add some softness and moisture.  They both can help with dryness, just different ways.  I use the scalp scrub for really dry areas and the pre-wash oil in between washes on my scalp as needed.  I do sometimes use it as a pre-wash, but I find I need to use a lot of it if my scalp is very dry, so I prefer the briogeo for that.  I also use the briogeo before I shower because it's just easier for me to get to my scalp, but it works in the shower, too.

Ceremonia Mini Aceite de Moska Pre-Shampoo Scalp & Hair Oil 0.7 oz/ 20 ml now comes in this size if you want to try it out.  Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo 8 oz/ 236 mL goes on sale every now and then, and sometimes a small size is included in a set, so keep an eye out
