Products to decrease volume?

I have naturally thick, wavy hair that is frizz-prone.  I flat iron religiously, but after so many years my hair isn't as sleek as it used to be.  I've always had very voluminous hair, but I prefer the "flat" look.

Do you get your hair thinned when you get it cut? I didn't realize that was a "thing" until I was in my mid-20's and it makes all the difference for me. You probably already are aware that it exists to help reduce volume, but I wanted to mention it just in case! Obviously, frizz is another thing, but it at least cuts down on the physical amount of hair.

@snoflakefaerie Yes, I do get my hair thinned.  But thanks for the heads-up!  I always appreciate people's input.  🙂

Hi greeneyedgirl107

It sounds like we have pretty similar hair! I suggest trying the Living Proof Prime Style Extender, which is applied to damp hair prior to styling from roots to tips. Since I usually want my straight looks to last a few days, I find that this product really lives up to it's name and when I forget to use it, I notice that my hair is less straight.

All my best,

Megan

@MeganBT Thank you for the recommendation.  I've been wondering about the Living Proof line.  I use their humidity shield and think it does make a bit of difference, so I'm interested in their other products.

Hi greeneyedgirl107,

The Prime Style Extender is one of Humidity Shield's best friends! If you live nearby a store, I recommend seeing if you can get a sample to try them out together. That sounds like a winning combination.

All my best,

Megan

Re: Products to decrease volume?

I flat iron religiously as well and agree as we come into the summer months my hair is way more frizz prone and difficult to manage . Lately I have been using the Briogeo leave in conditioner after i wash my hair and I have been asked by multiple people what I am using to make my hair so shiny so it must be working haha.

You might also just want to try anti-frizz shampoo and conditioners I always thought that the john frieda stuff was overhyped but I got their conditioner is a target box and my hair was noticeably less frizzy after using it.

Re: Products to decrease volume?

@Kim888 Thank you for the recommendations!  I will definitely check them out!  The Brigeo brand is new to me, but I'm definitely familiar with John Frieda and use products from that line.

Re: Products to decrease volume?

@Kim888 Yes! This has been so great for me! I got it in my FabFitFun subscription box and ended up ordering another one because it is seriously great for my frizz-prone hair.

Re: Products to decrease volume?

Not a product, but definitely worth every penny..

Loreal Steam Pod.

Makes your hair super flat and resistant to humidity.

One of the best features is that it is intended to use on DAMP HAIR. No blow-drying first!
