Hair care

IMG_2389.jpg

My original hair color is a dark brown-- almost black, and I went through a LOT of bleaching so I could get to this light, silvery color! So as you'd imagine my hair is kind of dry and damaged. Any tips on keeping it healthy and smooth looking??

RE: Hair care

IV bis en using a product called Iles Formula. I started out trying the travel set and immediately went on to purchase the 3 step pack. It’s done wonders for my hair and smells amazing. I’ve now added in their mask once a month and that’s been a game changer.

RE: Hair care

Gorgeous color 😍😍 omg, super jealous. Don’t wash often, use sulfate free products and ditch the regular conditioners and go for a hair mask every time. I would not recommend using Argan oil, it has a tint to it and some people who have bleached hair have noticed it leaves an orange residue.

Re: Hair care

Apply coconut, argan or Indian gooseberry/amla oil every weekend and leave it on at least for 4 hours or more (the more the better) so I would suggest to leave it on for at least a whole day and overnight and that'll really help to keep it smooth and healthy because of it nutrients that'll feed your hair, and also you hair already suffered of too much products so a little natural won't hurt 😉

@allisonhuynh your stylist did a great job blending. It looks fab. As far as the damage after lightening, your hair will feel rough the first few times after you wash it. It's hard to say without knowing more details, but I suspect your stylist went the low and slow method which causes less damage but takes more time in the chair. As someone else mentioned, Olaplex no 3 is a great start but also a good protein treatment such as Bumble and Bumble Mending Shampoo and Conditioner..it will not strip the colour from your hair.

Re: Hair care

Olaplex No 3 Home Treatment inbetween hair sessions. Its been a life saver for me as I go lighter and lighter from black hair.

Olaplex 3 saved my hair too! I have dark brown hair with a balayage to a light caramel tone, plus it is naturally coarse and frizzy. I use a flat iron daily, so my hair was already prone to breakage. After leaving it on overnight, concentrating on my ends, my split ends were drastically repaired.

Re: Hair care

@xseriox How do you use olaplex #3 I have been using it but haven’t seen drustic difference though it is as good as a deep conditioning mask. Maybe I am using it wrong?

just for reference, I don’t have any color on my hair, just too dry, dull and damaged.

Re: Hair care

@TanyaOlaplex @GG84 Thanks. Is it ok to use coconut oil overnight and then dampen the hair in the morning, use Olaplex #3 and then shampoo it all out after 40-45 min? Or should I not use the oil the night before?

Re: Hair care

@naturalooks15 I wouldnt put coconut oil in my hair at all. But that's just my opinion.

Re: Hair care

@GG84 Thanks for the response. I have used coconut oil in my hair and it actually moisturizes hair from within. Just trying to figure out if it can be done along with olaplex or will it cause olaplex to be ineffective since hair will be coated with oil. Let’s see what the brand @TanyaOlaplex says.

Re: Hair care

Hi ! I'm Tanya, an educator with the Olaplex company. For best results with No 3, Apply to damp / towel dried hair, apply a generous amount of No 3. Comb through and let process for a minimum of 10 minutes. Then shampoo and condition.
You always want to make sure that you address any issues with moisture or protein loss, in the hair, separately as Olaplex is NOT a conditioner nor does it contain any protein properties. Hope this helps you 🙂

Olaplex no 3 is not a conditioning mask. It is a pre-shampoo product. It has zero conditioning properties to it what so ever. It works on the disulfide bonds in the cortex (inside) the hair. You apply it to semi-damp hair before you shampoo. You then shampoo it out and follow with a moisture or protein treatment.

Re: Hair care

I like using it overnight once a week, but if your hair isnt colored I recommend a hot oil treatment mask or an egg/olive oil mask (as weird as it sounds) it helped my hair tons.

You can also create your own hair mask and use them once a week, currently I rotate between castor oil / coconut or castor oil / jojoba. My hair is the best thats it been after years of abuse.

Re: Hair care

What is the olive oil egg procedure?

Re: Hair care

@xseriox When you use it overnight, do you dampen your hair or just use Olaplex on dry hair?

Re: Hair care

My hair is very over processed. It used to look like hay then I started using Bumble and Bumble while you sleep overnight repair mask and the save the day daytime protective fluid and even my stylist was impressed at the change in texture. It's soft and shiny. I can actually run my fingers through it and pieces aren't breaking off.

Re: Hair care

The color job is amazing! Love your hair!

My hair is also color treated, but it is not bleached. I use a hair treatment instead of a conditioner everyday. It makes a huge difference. Otherwise, I cannot brush my hair! Also, use a hair serum/oil on damp hair. Currently, I use Collazen Care Cuticle & Cortex Care Aroma Therapy. I like it because it is not greasy and does not cause breakouts. Unfortunately, it is only available on Amazon.com and at the manufacturer website (cheaper on their website).

RE: Hair care

Coconut oil treatments are great for what you are describing.. For products, I totally agree with the Alterna line. If you can find the Alterna Science of Ten Shampoo and Conditioner (not carried at Sephora) try it. I absolutely love it.

RE: Hair care

Alterna Hair Care would be perfect for you! The anti-aging shampoo and conditioner are safe for colour treated hair, and are incredibly moisturizing. The CC cream is great to apply to damp hair to lock in moisture, smooths frizz, treats damaged hair and restores softness and shine. I would also use a purple shampoo from the middle down where the silver starts; leave it on for 3-5 minutes go keep it from looking brassy. The Amika bust you brass cool blonde shampoo works perfect for this. Hope these suggestions help!
