Hair breakage

My ends are breaking so bad. I used to straighten my hair everyday, but have stopped for the past month to try and revive my hair.

I use redken shampoo and conditioner. I alternate between the red bottle, acidic bonding, and the soft one. I also use Amika overnight mask on my hair too and use olaplex 3 and a leave in conditioner/ detangler and my hair is still so brittle and breaking all over the place

what do I do 😭

Re: Hair breakage

@lexipexi99  I also recommend getting a trim and then I would add in a hair oil. Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hydrating Hair Oil Serum 3.4 oz/ 100 mL is the best I’ve tried.

Re: Hair breakage

@faeriegirl Such a great hair oil!! Great advice.

Re: Hair breakage

@missjeanie @faeriegirl now I gave to try this oil!  What does it smell like?  Scent is a big factor for me with hair oils.  Huge.

Re: Hair breakage

@greeneyedgirl107  I am terrible at trying to describe scents.

This is what it says on the product page.

“Fragrance Description: An exceptional blend of floral violet leaves, freesia, and mandarin is balanced by woody musk extract and sandalwood.”

I mainly smell the sandalwood and I get a mild floral scent. I don’t get the mandarin or musk at all. I am a big fan of sandalwood so I really like it and the scent lasts a long time.

Re: Hair breakage

I would stop using the Olaplex. There’s a class action lawsuit now for hair loss and breakage. My hair is completely destroyed because of it. It was so healthy before. I’ve lost about 30% in volume and the breakage is horrible. My hair is multiple lengths. It’s truly awful and I regret ever using it.

Re: Hair breakage

@lexipexi99 I'm not a hairdresser by any means, but from what I've been told by them... go get a trim.  If you have split ends and don't trim them they'll keep breaking up the shaft of the hair and make the hair remaining quite brittle and prone to breakage.  When you're there your professional should be able to tell you if you're overdoing it with any one kind of product or if you should swap something out based on your particular hair situation.

@lexipexi99

I second this. That's really good advice from @missjeanie
