I have thick wavy/swavy hair @amanda0000. This past winter I was playing with my hair because I always had it layered to help with the waves. I was shocked to see that I could wear my hair in a ponytail with very few bobby-pins. I only had a single ponytail accessory which is not even produced anymore. It had 2 brightly colored balls on each end and it denigrated from sitting in my medicine cabinet for at least 10 years.
I started do research for products that would hold my “Cousin It” hair.
INVISIBOBBLE - SLIM the elegant hair ring
In my case I also looked at their website and saw that Invisibobble offers their hair ring for thick hair, multiple colors in their Sprunchies and a Bunmaker.
Last time I wore my hair long, I used a Scunci Octopus clip that I needed to constantly replace but I really liked the effect. Fast forward to 2019, I was at CVS and now it is offered in a thick hair variety. It is a lifesaver. I am unable to find that variety on line so I will have to purchase it in store. I am hoping that it has not been discontinued.
@Loretta55 I love the INVISIBOBBLE - SLIM the elegant hair ring too even though I have fine, thin hair.
I use the Power the Strong Grip Ring @AMK721 . They will be on sale at Ulta on Wednesday during the Gorgeous Hair Event. Easiest hair ring, my hair never gets tangled while wearing it.

You mean something like this?
Example of the hair ties of my youth.
I spent most of my pre-teen childhood in braids, and they sometimes started with that type of ponytail holder. That was in the 1970s, but apparently those holders are still used on many little girls. Now that I’m in nostalgia mode, I kinda want some myself: they’d be easier to use on my hair than other hair ties and scrunchies, as long as they didn’t break.
Forgot to mention my favorite headband. It is made by Karuna and it is thick with pronounced teeth to keep my hair off of my face when I wear my hair down. Also Invisibobble makes a hair clip which does a great job of keeping my bangs out of my face. I also have a cowlick in that area.
For the curly ones, any reviews of the Puff Cuff?
What is the Puff Cuff @TrysBeautyItems ? I have never heard of it.
@Loretta55 A round hair clip that swings open and then locks. Comes in various sizes. Some also use it at night to keep curls intact, according to online curl communities. The idea, for the name, is make a ponytail, add this instead of elastic, make a puff.
This looks interesting @TrysBeautyItems. The website will not let me look for local stores where I could purchase a Puff Cuff. It does state that is is carried at Sally’s Beauty. Unfortunately it is not offered in brown only black or clear.
@Loretta55 Stores are only Sally's, but may not be all of them right now. They won a inventor thing via them. PC site gave me trouble as well.
Maybe have to wrap hair around it, so color doesn't show, if you have lighter hair or just sleep in it. Probably requires some play with 😉
Edit: I think only Sally, but the broken locator does show some smaller stores in GA
Thank you for the response @TrysBeautyItems. At the moment I am sleeping in a INVISIBOBBLE - Sprunchie Scrunchie
@Loretta55 Another product I've been debating lol How do you like it? I normally use a regular scrunchie at night.
@amanda0000 Long narrow (3” to 12” wide) silk scarves. I often wear them as headbands, and they’re great for tying back my coils. Poly satin scarves also work, but they tend to not stay tied as well as silk scarves. I can’t use 100% cotton scarves because they chew up my hair. I always keep a long, 3” wide silk scarf in my purse/bag.
I also love plain black scrunchies and simple black hair ties for wearing my hair in puffs or buns. I’m very fussy about them: they must be the type that won’t snag my hair. Whoever invented silk scrunchies and flattened elastic hair ties deserves a medal of honor.
And I’m a longtime fan of hair sticks. I use those to put my hair in various up-dos, and they’re a fun accessory for buns held with scrunchies or elastic bands. Decorative chopsticks also work—and before anyone gets all “that’s cultural appropriation” on me, I have yet to be scolded by anyone from an Asian country for using a chopstick to pin up my hair. As one of my friends from Japan says, “me yelling at you for wearing a chopstick in your hair is as stupid as you yelling at me for wearing a spoon ring or a necklace charm made of a fork. There’s no spiritual significance to chopsticks, they’re just eating utensils. People need to simmer down!” 🤣
I’m obsessed with scrunchies and snap back clips 😍
I really love scrunchies! I started using them after my hair was breaking due to over bleaching. I also want to try the invisibobble Sprunchie Scrunchies.

@amanda0000 my favorite are rhinestones and clips with words.
