Did clarifying shampoo damage my hair? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Hello, everyone! About three weeks ago, I went to my hair salon to get my hair trimmed. I told my stylist that my hair was dirty (I had worked out that morning - it wasn't the dirtiest) & she decided to use clarifying shampoo on my hair. She had never used it before on my hair, but I'm assuming, because I said it was dirty, she decided to use clarifying shampoo on it. Any who, I think it was a horrible idea! After her assistant washed my hair, I went to touch my hair & it felt nothing like my hair! It felt rough, completely dried out, & almost matted in a ball! I mentioned it to my stylist as I walked back to her & her eyes got big when she felt my hair! My hair had become completely matted & two people worked on detangling my hair! I have naturally curly hair - smaller curls & it's poofy. My stylist asked her assistant, "What did you do to her hair when washing it?" She replied, "Clarifying shampoo, as you requested!" My stylist even said she had never felt my hair feel like that & I hadn't either! Ever since that day, my hair has felt like straw! It feels really stiff, brittle, & dry! I have put tons of moisturizer on it - Moroccan Oil & some other oils, on it daily! This seems to be doing nothing - can you all give me some advise, please! Thanks!!!

This is happening to my hair right now to my hair.

@Anonymous
You clarified and have the same reaction?

I couldn't agree more with the poster that suggested going back and asking for further moisture treatment at the salons cost. I would ask what exactly was used in your hair. I'm not sure what kind of mistake could've been made with a simple clarifying shampoo, but clearly something is terribly wrong. Wrong product for your hair type or condition? I'm perplexed right along with you. I'm able to use a drugstore brand clarifying shampoo every week or two. my hair may feel a little different after rinsing, but following with my Biolage Conditioning Balm takes care of it. I hate this happened to you but wish you the best in getting it back to health.

Thank you so much!

I would return to the salon and ask that they treat your hair to professionally restore the moisture - free of charge. A reputable salon wouldn't typically have let you leave with hair that dry... or allowed assistants to comb you out without first treating the issue. If that fails, I'd book a consult at the best salon I've ever heard of, explain the situation and ask them for advice. Good luck!

You're absolutely right!! I agree 100% with everything you stated! Thank you!!

Have you tried deep conditioning it?.

I have done one of those deep conditioning masks - like a Moroccan Oil one, but I don't feel much of a difference. Do you have any recommendations on what I could try?

Aussie 3-Minute Miracle works great as a deep conditioner. Apply it in thoroughly through your hair and leave in for about an hour (if my hair is completely dry and feels brittle, I leave it in for 3 hours). Cover your head with a shower cap or a plastic bag while deep conditioning. This method has never failed me, hope it works for you ๐Ÿ™‚
