Dandruff

Help my dandruff never goes away ,how do you manage especially in this awful weather

Re: Dandruff

I second the recommendation for using Neutrogena t/gel for scalp conditions, also Vosene shampoo is pretty good as well. However, you need to know what is causing the issue as it may be something that requires more specialist treatment. I personally have to use Nizoral shampoo (thankfully the over the counter stuff these days instead of the prescription strength) so, if your flaking is accompanied by itching, that might be a good choice for you to try - just make sure that you use a good conditioner as this stuff dries out your hair!

You might also be having a reaction to leave in products that you are using in your hair, so that is something to consider also.

Dandruff

Dandruff runs in my family and dry hair. If it you get dry skin or dry hair then you need increase shampooing with conditioner or use a cowash. If you have adult acne then you may have a build up malassezia and you can wash your hair with dandruff shampoo twice weekly or mix a drop or two of tea tree oil your shampoo. Avoid shampoos with sulfates, which drys your hair and scalp more (I use a shea moisture shampoo). I OD may hair with conditioner all the way to the scalp where I massage conditoner in (granier olive oil one is paraben and silicon free). While dry hair is "encouraged" to wash three times a week, you need condition your hair each day and rub your scalp when doing it. Look into leave conditioners that paraben, silicon, and alcohol free (I use a shea moisture leave in and style with Knot Today detangler). (Alcohols on your conditioner and shampoo is extremely drying!)

Re: Dandruff

@babelyn Dandruff or dry scalp? They are different, dandruff is oily flakes. Product build up can show up as flakes as well. Clarifying  shampoo like Redken Cream shampoo. Neutrogena t/gel for scalp conditions. Don't use either for your main shampoo, see bottle. Also hot water/air dries out skin, scalp and hair, so turn down the heat - shower and heater. Theres scalp oil too like Aveda composition oils and Phyto.
