Copper Coloured Hair Care?

What's everyone's best tips on keeping my copper/red hair in it's best shape in-between salon visits. Here's my routine: I wash with shampoo for color-treated hair. (Redken hair magnetix, It's a 10, or Bumble & Bumble for colored hair) I  wash with cold water only.

I then condition: I've used eSalon Devoted to Hue in copper, It's a 10, IGK Expensive (I absolutely adore it), or whatever is available. Again, with cold water.

In between shampoos (which I only shampoo 1 or 2x/wk) I will use various oils on the ends or wherever it's frizzy or dry feeling.

I deep condition with coconut oil or some other deep treatment.

I'd like to find something for my roots. (the eSalon does help tremendously, but it's so messy and looks like a blood bath in my bathroom)

Has anyone used the hair crayon?

Thanks for any suggestions!

RE: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

I'm a licensed Hairstylist, my best advice would be to not use too much heat on your hair and look into shampoos with actual Pigment in them to freshen up your color in between getting it done. Two examples of these shampoos would be Viral or Overtone. If you are interested in those shampoos and decide to purchase them, I would suggest only using them once every two weeks or once a month depending on how quickly your hair fades.

Re: RE: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot to mention that I do use heat protectant's. I also try to air dry as much as possible. I work as a pizza deliverer, so my hair is up in a pony tail. Since it's pulled up, for the most part, I don't bother to straighten and curl so I can save my colour as much as possible. I only curl/straighten when I have an event. Luckily, my hair is naturally wavy.

I will look into the products you suggested. The eSalon Devoted to Hue is a conditioner with vivid copper/red pigments. And it works nicely, but messily! What I don't like about it is that my scalp is stained. Of course, they wash out with the next shampoo. My stylist and I keep forgetting to keep some of my color to mix into my conditioner. Do you think it should be mixed in the shampoo or the conditioner?

RE: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

I have used the Bumble and Bumble crayon on my roots as well Rita Hazan root spray. Both really help with extending time between trips to the salon.

Re: RE: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may pick up one of the crayons next time.

Re: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

I think Batiste makes a dry shampoo that is very red, which can be used to mask roots and extend time between shampooings.

Re: Copper Coloured Hair Care?

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't seen Batiste for Reds. I've only seen the one dark hair. I'll have to poke around online to look for it.
