Conditioner

I have medium to thick hair. Could anyone let me know the difference between leave in conditioner er vs rinse out conditioner and for which hair type should use either one.  Any good recommendation brands that are good for dry scalp  a bit longer f hair seems to fall out due to pero menaupause and stress thanks

Re: Conditioner

Hi, @maccal2023 !  A product that helps with my dry, itchy scalp is The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid Scalp Serum 60ml .  I use it after I wash my hair, before I add styling products.  I also use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna The Rich One Moisture Repair Shampoo 10 oz

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna The Rich One Moisture Repair Conditioner for Fine to Medium Hair 10 oz

Once a week I use a scalp scrub and mask.

Kérastase Energizing Scrub: Purifying Scrub for Oily Scalp 8.5 oz/ 250 mL

Briogeo Superfoods™ Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Hair Mask 8.0 oz/ 240 mL

I don't usually use a leave-in because it can be too heavy for my fine, thin, wavy hair.  When I do, I like

adwoa beauty Melonberry Hair Milk Leave-In Conditioner 6.8 oz / 200 mL

Re: Conditioner

Rinse-out conditioner: You use it right after shampooing and then rinse it out. It mainly helps detangle, smooth, and moisturize your hair. Good for all hair types, especially normal to oily hair, because it doesn’t weigh hair down.

Leave-in conditioner: You leave it in your hair after washing (don’t rinse) . Provides extra moisture, protection, and helps reduce frizz throughout the day .Great for dry, thick, or longer hair, especially if your hair is prone to breakage or falling out.

For dry scalp and hair falling out: Look for hydrating, gentle formulas with ingredients like aloe vera, argan oil, or shea butter. Some good brands: #kerastaseNutritive, olaplex, SheaMoistur. Avoid heavy silicones if your scalp is sensitive—they can clog pores.

you can use both : rince out in the shower and after leave in

Re: Conditioner

@maccal2023 If your hair is thin, you might benefit more from a leave in, but you can use either leave in or rinse out conditioner.  Usually a leave in is lighter.. Like or can be a cream or a spray va rinse out one which is usually more like a cream or lotion.

For dry scalp you wouldn't use a conditioner.. That's usually the job of a scalp scrub, an oil or a clarifying shampoo.  I usually use a scrub when it's really dry and then a hydrating shampoo.

Brand wise?  There's a lot.  Amika, Kerastasé, Pattern, Fenty Hair, K18, Ouai, Olaplex and so on at Sephora.  Non Sephora, Redken, Design Essentials, TGIN...

Also, if your hair is falling out, might want to see a specialist (endocrinologist, a gynecologist that is also an endocrinologist, dermatologist, etc) just so if there's prescription strength alternatives available to you, you have a proper assessment.
