Re: BEACHY WAVES?!

I love beach waves! It depends what your hair is like normally - is it straight or slightly wavy, or curly? My hair is thick and doesn't hold its shape for very long which means I often have to use a curling iron to give it an initial wave/curl. I'll spray it lightly with hair spray and some sea salt spray, flip it down towards the ground, tousle it out, then flip it back over. The last thing I do to get it to stay in place is add texturizer so the waves stay together and don't fall out. Hope that helps!! ❤️

Re: BEACHY WAVES?!

In order to get non-frizzy, relaxed beachy waves I blow dry my hair straight and use the Beachwaver Pro (which is 1" - anything smaller is going to give you too-tight curls.  My hair is long and I prefer 1 1/2 inch barrels for beach waves, but the model I have only comes in 1").  I hold each curl for about 10-15 seconds before releasing it, and then instead of just letting it drop I cup each curl in my palm (if that makes sense) until it cools down.  That way the curl sets better.  The Beachwaver Pro is the ONLY curling tool I've used that makes the curls last at all (which I've always found kind of weird because my hair is naturally wavy/curly - with every other tool and method I've tried, the curls usually fall out within a few minutes to an hour).  I also use Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray all over after I'm done.  If I'm curling my hair after I just washed and blow dried it, I spray the texturizing spray BEFORE I start curling as well - otherwise my hair is too slippery and the curl will fall out.

I've tried a bunch of sea salt/beach waves sprays and the only one that has even sort of worked for me is Captain Blankenship.  Sometimes I'll use that instead of the Oribe; I prefer the Oribe though because the texture it gives is better (especially the next day) and it's less drying, but it's a lot more expensive and the end result isn't that much different.  Sebastian Microweb Fiber is also something that's worked for me in keeping beachy waves in tact after my hair is curled, but it's really sticky and a pain to use, and I hate the texture...it's worth trying though if your hair doesn't hold a curl well.

Sleeping with braided hair has never worked for me (it makes my hair look so terrible the next morning) - it works really well for my mom though, who has wavy but fine hair (mine is coarse) - she puts her hair in one very loose braid, with the braid starting a bit past her ears, after she's blow dryed it straight about 50-60% dry, and sleeps on a silk pillowcase.  So if you want to try the braiding again instead of purchasing a bunch of products that may or may not work I'd suggest that.

Re: BEACHY WAVES?!

Ok thank you so much this was a lot of help!

Re: BEACHY WAVES?!

Have you tried B&B's surf spray or surf infusion? I love both these products. Their sea salt added ingredient helps give that all day beachy wave look. I also think it smells amazing, as if you've just been at the beach.

Re: BEACHY WAVES?!

For beachy waves, scrunch hair (while it’s damp) with a texturing mousse. Then just roughly dry it with a blow dryer. Don’t smooth your hair much with a brush, or you’ll lose that textured, beachy look. We like to use products like the Bumble and Surf Thickening Full Form Mousse. Best of luck!

I use AG's Beach Bomb in Curl. I apply it on wet hair and then blow dry it while scrunching up my hair and it holds throughout the whole day. Verb also released a kit with their sea salt products recently that looks amazing. Haven't tried it yet but it looks great! It's called the Waves & Texture Kit. (On the app. Can't link it.)
