Hello BIC beauties! ๐ I realized we don't have an active music thread here in BIC (there seem to be a few different short-lived threads from years past, but nothing recent as far as I could find), and I thought it would be fun to have a place to recommend our favorite artists and songs, chat about what we've been listening to lately, post our song of the day or anything else music related! Everyone is welcome to join in however you like, however often you like, and all types of music are welcome! ๐
Today's song of the day is:
The Watersons - There Are No Lights On Our Christmas Tree
This song was originally written and performed by Cyril Tawney, but I like the Watersons' version best. The song is about a little boy whose father has a very Scrooge-like attitude toward the Christmas holidays. My dad thought it was depressing when I shared it with him, but personally it tickles my funny bone. So I guess your mileage may vary with this one!
i love gracie abrahamโsssss and billie eylish
Billie Eilish is the best female singer out there! Her songs are so emotional. I love her newest album "Hit Me Hard And Soft"!
YES DEF HER BEST ALBUM
What are your favorite songs by them @skibidispice123 ?
probably the greatest by billie and skinny those r my top but i have a lot more then for gracie i love i miss u iโm sorry and feels like
We had a little bit of snow last night (just enough to be what my neighbor calls "mood snow"), and I woke up to a light dusting of it on our back deck. So today's song of the day is:
Meaghan Smith - It Snowed
They played this over the store radio at TJ Maxx during the holiday season, back when I used to work there, and it was one of the only holiday songs they played that I didn't hate ๐
Your back deck is beautiful - the view is calming. Even more so with the mood snow @caitbird. Oooh, Meghan Smith has such a good voice and It snowed is an excellent choice!
I've had the Wicked soundtrack playing the last few days.
@Samtian mentioned on the Pan It! - 2024 Challenge thread goals/products to work on for next year's pan it! challenge. I'm following her lead and trying to finalize my list of products and goals for next year's pan project.
@itsfi I keep meaning to give the soundtrack a listen! I saw the movie last weekend. ๐
How did you like the movie @PrettyPaint?
@itsfi I really enjoyed it. I'm generally not a big movie person (I have a hard time sitting that long), but I thought it was moving and well done.
I saw this movie a few days ago. It gave me a good laugh. Though I do have to say, TikTok kind of ruined the songs for me.
Iโve seen the musical twice but have not seen the movie yet @vallyyyyy.
@itsfi I actually have not listened to the Wicked movie soundtrack yet (somehow ๐ ), but I do enjoy the musical soundtrack, so I'll have to check it out! And oh yes, making plans for next year's pan project! I have been working on that a bit as well. I have some good goals in mind (many continuing from this year, and some new), but am not quite ready to call my plans finalized yet.๐ค
Ahhh, I love the musical soundtrack @caitbird! I love musicals! 100% understand that - I have picked out most of the items I'm thinking about for next year's pan it! challenge but am going to sit with those for a week to see if I'm really sure that's what I want to do and also to fill two empty slots to round out my pan products. Hoping to have my choices finalized after the Christmas weekend.
@itsfi my parents don't like musicals but my grandmother does, so I guess it skipped a generation ๐
That sounds like a great plan, I am hoping to keep going over my pan it plans for the next couple of weeks and hopefully I'll be all set once the new year rolls around! Out of curiosity, how do you decide how many products/categories to include in your panning project for the year? I know you have been participating in this challenge for several years now, so you've probably learned a lot about what works for you through trial and error.
@caitbird, that's cool that you and your grandma share a love of musicals.
Oh, yes, I've had my share of trial and error periods with panning. For the last couple of years, I've gone with 10 products at a time and that has worked for me. My plan is to have 10 pan products next year as well. Some years, I've had more goals, but still 10 products. So, for instance, the Natasha Denona Biba palette is 1 product but this year, I had 4 different goals - full pan on 3 shimmer shadows and hit pan on a matte shadow. The Yves Saint Laurent Couture Mini Clutch Eyeshadow Palette 100 Stora Dolls palette is on my list for next year's pan it! challenge - my ultimate goal is to pan the entire palette but for 2025, my aim is to hit pan one shadow. I haven't decided which shadow and for this first one, I won't target one shadow to pan, at least not initially, but will just use the palette and see what natually shows more dips and dents first. At some point during the year (or a subsequent year), I might call out a specific shadow in the quad that I'll work on hitting pan or full pan.
One year I decided to try to be cutesy and aimed for 22 products in 2022. Super catchy but my goodness, that was too much for me. At that time I swapped out skincare and hair care products much more frequently than I do now so perhaps with the right combination of pan items, I might be able to manage a pan project like that better nowadays, but 10 is a good fit for me for the last couple of years so I'm sticking to that - it gives me some structure to work through certain products and build up a habit / consistency of use, but it also allows me flexibility to incorporate other products into my routine should I want that.
Some other strategies that I've learned over the years include:
Some of it will just be about trial and error and finding out what works best for you. You can always start out with (a larger or smaller) pool of pan products and pare down or add to that throughout the year as you get a better idea of what and how the challenge is working out for your and work will work best based on your needs and lifestyle.
@itsfi wow, thank you so much for sharing all your thoughts and insights, you've definitely given me a lot to think about! I feel like I have a tendency to overcommit and include too many items and goals in my projects, and then a lot of them carry over into the next year...but on the other hand, I do find it helpful to use the pan it project to keep track of my overall goals and keep myself accountable with my progress. So I guess I will try to assess what has worked and what didn't this year (and last), and tweak my plans for next year's project accordingly. And I will try to take your advice and compare your strategies to my current plans to see what might work better with some adjustment - thank you again! ๐
