Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I recently got my lashes done at a Sephora and it was suuuuuch a good experience that I will go back, get lashes again, just to chit chat with the associates there.

I narrowed it down to two choices:

Velour Lashes Effortless - No Trim - Natural Lash Collection Understated(I think)

SEPHORA COLLECTION Vegan False Eyelashes Charming   (obvs winner) ... Way nice and way nice price😁😉

1000008769.jpg

They stayed and slayed. This was a four hour wear. It's $15 USD for the service + cost of lashes.  The SC lashes are very adorable, affordable and as my Syane (shout-out to Sephora Meatpacking) said, "they eatttt"

I highly encourage getting lashes, especially if you struggle with them.  I described what I wanted, and got tips and tricks that allowed me to do this on my own.

What I learned

  1. Tapered out shape for almond shaped eyes gives you all the drama without overwhelming your eye
  2. Cut the outside, not the inside so you don't ruin your lashes if you're new to this or just find it challenging
  3. Look down when applying , which seems intuitive, but 9/10 I go straight and straight into the mirror.  Having a mirror and looking down gives me a higher success rate.

Also, I got in store goodies!

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I needed to do a beauty service to complete the beauty challenge so I decided to do a brow wax. I was a little nervous because it was my first time getting one. I had a great experience! The technician was so good and it didn’t hurt at all. I think it was definitely worth $22 and I would totally do it again.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

OooooOooooOooh, I wanted to do a brow wax, so this helps, thank you for the feedback @faeriegirl

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

This is such a useful informative thread @danielledanielle , terrific idea! I have been debating doing either the lip or lashes and excited to try them. You and @itsfi lashes look sooo good! Glam glam! 😍

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I'm highly biased @Sunnysmom  (Lashes.) But, I'm sure whatever you pick  (Lashes.), will be fantastic.  Let us know how it goes!  (Laaaaaassssshessss.)

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@danielledanielle I chose the lip treatment! Shocking shocking. 😆 I will definitely do the lash treatment before a holiday event as well! I almost did the lashes too because they both look so fun but didn’t have a ton of time. My experience was easy and relaxed as I went to my favorite, small familiar store and faces. 😊 The area they do their treatments is also tucked off to the side so you never feel uncomfy or conspicuous which I really appreciated too. My tech was very knowledgable and gentle and I loved the minty sensation of the product. My lips feel super soft and a bit plumpish even now and it’s been a bunch of hours. Not sure how long it will last but I loved it. I do have some small lip lines which is why I also chose this treatment and while I know they won’t go away I do feel like the treatment maybe helped a bit! She suggested doing it more often to see more results and I’m sure my lips would really benefit. ( Lucky guys who got their lip treatment products as I did not so I was kind of sad but didn’t want to say anything! Maybe I should? I dunno. I did buy something so I guess it was a good win for S between the treatment and my purchase!! 🤣). Also, challenge complete! Satisfying :).

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

🤣 You’re batty @danielledanielle (lashes) and I love it. 😉😉 (lashes?) I may have to close my eyes (lashes?!!) and see what the universe brings!😘😘 (Lips?!)

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Ummmm, @Sunnysmom, just in case you're having a little trouble interpreting @danielledanielle, I think she's recommending lashes for the Beauty Services at Sephora feature. I mean, I'm pretty sure that's what she's trying to say. 😂🤣😂🤣

Side comment, is it just me or are we missing a lashes emoji here? Closest I get is eyes emoji 👁; or technically, one eye. Which given how it shows up, looks like my sparse lashes before the lash application. 😄

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I’m not sure what you even mean @itsfi ?! 😳😆🤣. OH, lashes?!! 🤣 You’re right! Why don’t we I wonder!

😽🥸closest to whiskers and brows, but no lashes?! (You look like you have very nice lashes btw pre app!)

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Yeah, I'm surprised there aren't more makeup emojis at this point.

Also the eye emoji could use a lash appointment 🤣 @itsfi

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Went into Sephora Herald Square today .. Shout-out to Stephanie and Tasha!!  I went in to get the Hair IQ quiz, a part of one of the current Beauty Challenges that end 10/23.  (If you haven't done this yet, look for a BA with a handheld)

It was surprisingly worthwhile 🤣.  You do the little quiz, which takes less than 5 minutes.  And then they take you to a recommendation, but Stephanie said options and you know we love options...

I actually asked for help with detangling, which is my current struggle, so we looked for products to help with moisture and frizz.

My options:

amika The Wizard Detangling Hair Primer 5 oz / 150 mL

Mizani Moisture Fusion Deep Conditioning Hair Mask 16.9 oz/ 500 mL

Function of Beauty PRO Bond Repair Custom Conditioner Mask for Coily, Damaged Hair

When you do the quiz, you can enter your email or phone and get your recs sent there, but I added to my loves list, much like @itsfi encouraged since we're 🛒 a-buildin' for Sephora Savings Event – Holiday 2024 Shopping Advice Thread: What’s in Your Basket?

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Yaaay, another challenge accomplished; nice work @danielledanielle! The hair quiz was a lot more fun than I expected - I went in near closing time and the associate that helped me and I got to chatting about different products and brands, and then some of her coworkers stopped by to chat too. 😆

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

I scheduled an appointment for lash application after reading about your experience with this service @danielledanielle! Thank you!
Lash application.png
I've had lashes applied as part of an Ultimate Glam experience - super fun! I can post about that another day, if folks are interested - I'll have to look back to see if I took photos of that service. This is a newer service (I think) and I quite like it. I'm horrible at applying false lashes and this is a great way to have that done without having to get a full makeover. Not that I mind having someone do my makeup, but I do prefer to use my own makeup.

FYI - The beauty challenge ends 10/23 (Wednesday). For anyone still looking to complete the "Get Any Beauty Service" task on the Level Up challenge, this is an easy, fun (and relatively low-cost) way to go about it, and get your 100 points. ALSO, now through 10/23, you can earn 5x points on Sephora Collection lashes (!!!) and mascaras.

Steps before appointment
  • Went online to find a date and time for my appointment.
  • I also checked online, using the "Buy Online, Pick Up In Store" feature to check to see if the lashes I would like were in stock. I did not buy the lashes then, but just wanted to make sure I had some options to choose from before making the appointment (i.e., lashes in stock, not "limited stock"). I prefer false lashes that are not super voluminous - this is a personal preference so I was just wanting to make sure they had lashes that added volume to my sparse lashes, but not too much.
  • NOTE: you don't have to pick out your lashes in advance; typically at the appointments, the associate will ask you about what you're doing or what brings you into the store for the appointment (e.g., you can also put this information in the notes section when you book your appointment), and the associate will pull out some options for you based on what you share. I knew I wouldn't have a lot of time between my appointment and my event so I just did some online browsing beforehand - and, well, I like just having an idea of what my options would be beforehand.
  • Made a note to myself of which lashes to look for and booked an appointment.
  • For the lash application service, I arrived with my foundation, concealer, and lips done. I also curled my lashes and applied mascara.
  • I arrived at my appointment 15 minutes prior to find parking, and grab the lashes I was interested in having applied and also to look around at what I might want to add to my Savings Event list - note to self ... Self, post your list to theSephora Savings Event – Holiday 2024 Shopping Advice Thread: What’s in Your Basket?

At the Store:
  • Checked in for appointment (e.g., let them know you're there) - if the associate at the door is not with another customer, you can let him/her/them know that you have an appointment. Or, you can let the associate at the register know as well. Or, since I know the associate who would be applying the lashes and she was at the beauty studio section, I let her know I had arrived (and that I was early).
  • The fabulous Ana (at the Sephora Laurel Village) let me know she just needed a few minutes to setting up and washing her hands, etc.
  • Ana asked what my plans were for the day, what kind of lashes / look I was aiming for. Since I had already picked out my lashes, I handed them to her. I did ask her if she thought they'd look okay on my eye shape, etc. I picked #SEPHORA COLLECTION Vegan False Eyelashes Irresistible - they're a lot fuller than I would normally choose for everyday but I decided to do something that added volume but wasn't too extra
  • She took a look at my eyes, the lashes and then cut them to fit. As danielledanielle mentioned, the associate cut the lashes from the outside of the lashes.
  • We chatted during the session about lash application and she noted that I needn't be afraid of applying false lashes, just practice and it'll become easier and easier, She also shared that I should be able to get 10 uses out off these lashes.
  • She also added another layer of mascara to my lashes/false lashes - she used Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara.
  • We talked about removal as well - she said she just peels them off, but if I could also use makeup remove or cleanser to gentle loosen / remove the glue.
  • We finished earlier than the allotted time - part of that was that I had my false lashes already picked out and ready to go.
  • Once done, payment is processed for the service ($15) + the cost of the lashes. You have the option to add a tip.
  • And voila!  Off I went back home to finish getting ready.

Performance:
  • These held up very nicely - at least 5 hours - and were easy to remove. My eye area is extra sensitive so before my cleansing step, I soaked a cotton pad with micellar water, gently pressed and held that against my closed lids to loosen the glue and remove the lashes. Then I followed up with my usual evening cleansing and skincare routine.
All ready for me to practice application at home, and for use another time! All ready for me to practice application at home, and for use another time!

Thoughts
  • I like this service and can see myself scheduling future appointments.
  • I can see this service really coming in handy with the upcoming holidays - dinners, parties, etc.
  • This would make a nice gift or treat for a night out with friends - either as part of a glam makeover appointment or just the lash application.
  • Highly recommend! 👍

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

The lashes look fantastic! @itsfi 🤩

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@CynthieLu, thank you. The makeup artist did a fabulous job! 👍

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

They are fantastic both ways @itsfi. Your lash tech trimmed your new lashes perfectly. 👌 That's a great shape on you.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Lashes totally intimidate me @itsfi , thank you for all this wonderful info from your experience! Yours look so beautiful! 💞

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@Sunnysmom, I hear ya. Depending on how much you want to spend on the lashes and which ones your nearest store has available, there are some very natural looking ones - your lashes but better variations.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Weightless False Eyelash Kit

Velour Lashes Effortless - No Trim - Natural Lash Collection Understated

Velour Lashes Minimalist Collection - Natural Volume Mink Lashes

Velour Lashes Effortless - No Trim - Natural Lash Collection Short & Sweet

I've had Effortless and Minimalist applied on different occasions and they'd be good for an everyday look - it's not a full on falsies look but it will give a boost to your natural lashes.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@itsfi, thank you for the walkthrough.  The lashes look 🤌🏽🤌🏽 on you.

Is it weird that I got excited when you said they used the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara ?  And that I just got those same lashes? Are we lash vibing?

Also, yes, the tipping option, good note on that!  I was surprised to see it, but liked that I could do that.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@danielledanielle, lash viibing, love it! ♥️ The Sephora Collection lashes are niiiiice - I may pick up a couple before the 5x point ends this Thursday Wednesday, today! - for myself and for gifts / stocking stuffers.

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

@itsfi, secondededededed

Also, if someone needs the BOPIS part of the challenge, they could BOPIS the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara , book the service annnnnnddd make use of the multiplier.  Just sayin'

Re: Sooooo... How did it go? The Beauty Studio Service Thread

Ahhhhh, love it @danielledanielle! Good strategy! 👊 I ike having this option for services - it's quick, easy and something I have a challenging time doing myself. I don't see myself wearing false eyelashes daily but I can see practicing putting them on as something I try to do every now and again. And, I can definitely see myself going in for another lash application for special occasions.
