It's that time again: time to post about the products that let us down in one way or another. Was your lipstick too sheer? Post here! Did you hair oil make you cry? Hit reply! Was your serum too thin? Weigh in! Here we go...
I love Bum Bum but this is a big no no . It liked putting glues on my hair. Too bad it smells sooo good
Sol de Janeiro Triple Brazilian Butter™ Hair Repair Treatment Mask 8.0 oz/ 238 mL
I haven’t been doing much makeup lately but the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint was a big fail for me. It clung to whatever dry patches were left behind after my skin prep and felt like it dried heavily on my skin.
My big miss this month was Tata Harper Concentrated Brightening Essence 3.4 oz/ 100 mL
I purchased another Tata Harper product I loved and this essence had such rave reviews I gave it a shot. Nope, nope, nope! I have never had anything wreck my skin so quickly. I'm talking giant, painful pimples covering my cheeks and mila all over within 2 days!
It's been 2 weeks since I discontinued use and my skin is just about fully recovered.
@sparkles0913 I just don’t like Tata Harper period. I can’t pin point to why but most of the products I try is just nah skip. Ppl love it though.
@blackkitty2014 I tried the essence because I fell in love with a Tata Harper cleanser but apparently my skin is very picky with which Tata Harper products it enjoys! Haha
I received a sample hydrating Tata Harper toner with my order (ordered from the brand site directly) and that was very meh. Not bad but didn't wow me, especially for the price!
Oh no, @sparkles0913! 😟 I'm glad your skin is recovering!
@sparkles0913 Ouch! I'm glad you're healing quickly!
Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Lip + Cheek Cream Blush Stick Poppet. It's too dry and stiff a texture to finger-blend, even after warming product up on the back of my hand, so it requires a brush. It doesn’t blend out very well. And I get patchy coverage regardless of the brush I use (goat hair or synthetic; pom-pom, flat, round, or angled), the amount of product I apply, or my application technique. I rarely have this problem with blush—cream, powder, or liquid—so I’m confused by this one. I’ve used too many better cream blushes to let Westman Atelier slide in this category, especially at their price point.
@WinglessOne Yeah, I had a similar experience with their highlighter too that was kindly gifted by TeamBIC in the last gratis. I also know lots of reviewers liked it, but I found it hard to blend and would vanish from my face all too quickly. Thanks for sharing your experience on the blush! I think I'll take a mini break from WA products unless they come out with something limited edition and irresistible 😅
@Guessgal Aw, sorry to hear the highlighter stick has the same issues as the blush stick. Now I'm definitely going to avoid WA products, or at least their cream products. I considered trying their lip balm but now I suspect it won't compare to other brands' similar products.
@WinglessOne that's super-disappointing about the blush! The color of yours looks so pretty but that's an easy pass if it's a dud formula 🤔.
Thanks @Ispend2much6 and @CookieGirl1 ! I do love the Poppet color. That makes things even more frustrating. Oh well!
@WinglessOne That is truly disappointing. I agree with you on those.
That is a bummer @WinglessOne , mine can feel that way too. I probably mess mine up with too much moisturizer underneath so as to try and over compensate , to make it creamier. Her pics/ videos seem to make all her cream products looks much more than they are irl. In my humble. Grr.
@Sunnysmom Ugh, sorry you also have problems with this blush. At first I thought I might’ve used too much moisturizer too, or that my sunscreen was interfering. (I also tried using a facial oil on my cheeks as an emollient base. I even tried mixing oil into the blush on my hand.) But applying it to skin without sunscreen or with less moisturizer gave the same patchy result. Either Gucci’s videos are misleading or there’s some magic trick to making this product work.
I don’t like to write off a brand’s full product line based on one product’s bad performance but I gotta say, I’m not keen to try more WA stuff.
Yeah I can understand why you feel this way @WinglessOne and it’s also weird as her highlighter and compact bronzers are so much more emollient. You have one of them also right? I’ve tried all that too! Guess I’m just stubborn and continue to wear it knowing it’s less of a glow than I like because the color is so good! The other colors in the blush are pretty much the same too. Maybe she’ll get the feedback that the blushes are an issue for many of us or I hope. I love the creme shadows, the lip compact and a few of the brushes too. @SportyGirly125
@WinglessOne I have heard the same thing and had the blush stick on my loves list but never ended up buying it because people mentioned that it wasn't as creamy as in her videos
@SportyGirly125 That's money well saved! I'm glad you decided not to buy one of these. I mean, I'm sure some folks have no problems with these blushes so your mileage may vary. But these aren't worth $48. Not by a long shot. Also, I have very little trust in Gucci's product promo videos now.
@Sunnysmom Nope, I don't own any other WA products. This blush was my first item of theirs. I should've tried one of the highlighters instead, but I'm trying not to buy many more highlighters by anyone until I've panned some of my current ones. Good to know some of WA's other products perform better than their blushes, though!
Yup @WinglessOne and honestly the highlighters are nice but not a must. There are so many other good ones that give more ooomph than these. These remind me of Chanel’s for reference. I mean they’re nice but…
@Sunnysmom Ah. In that case... you just saved me $48! Or $75 if I was interested in the compact highlighters, which I'm not. The compact cream version doesn't look much better to me than RMS's Luminizers. And I love the Luminizers for a natural kicked-up glow. I already have plenty of "visible from the ISS" highlighters, plus several between natural glow and super shiny. I really need to stop buying highlighters for a while. 😄
