Matte primer with matte foundation?

I have sensitive/combo skin and I have hydrating primer and hydrating foundation. It’s melting off my face so I tried matte powder and it looked terrible. I want to buy Fenty matte primer and the matte foundation but I’m afraid it will be too drying for me. Maybe I should get the matte primer and hydrating foundation. Does anyone have any tips when mixing primers and foundation?

Try a water based primer with a hydrating foundation.  Too many hydrating products will melt off.  Also use a setting powder or spray for long wear.
