Makeup remover recommendations?

Hello! Recently I’ve been noticing my cleanser doesn’t take off all of my makeup from the day. Does anybody have a good affordable makeup remover? I’ve been eyeing the glow recipe one, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it! For reference I have dry skin. Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm & Makeup Remover 3.4 oz/ 100 mL

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

Okay, 1 more reccomedation @SephoraTV  If your looking to tryGlow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm & Makeup Remover 3.4 oz/ 100 mL  but it's too expensive this is an excellent dupe,

SEPHORA COLLECTION Melting Cleansing Balm Cleanse + Balance 4.22 oz/ 125 mL

😀

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

You should check this one out @SephoraTV

The INKEY List Oat Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL removes make up and you just follow with a second cleanser of your choice ( it doubles as a nourishing Oat mask too!)

The Inkey List is very affordable 👌 ️

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

I like to take my makeup off using a micellar water and a cotton pad, and then afterwards follow with my regular facial cleanser.

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

My favorite cleansing balm is Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm @SephoraTV. During Sephoria last year a drag queen (sorry I can’t remember who) showed the removal of heavy stage makeup and I couldn’t believe how well it worked. Seasonally other scents are offered: The scent of the original is key lime.

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

Thank you so much, will have to try!

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

hello @SephoraTV

I use the SEPHORA COLLECTION Melting Cleansing Balm with Algae Extract 4.22 oz / 125 mL and it removed all my makeup. everything !!

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

Thank you so much! The Sephora brand is so good. I have never tried their makeup removing balm! I will try it!

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

Hello @SephoraTV ! I use either The INKEY List Oat Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL or Paula's Choice Omega + Complex Cleansing Balm 3.5 oz/ 104 mL to remove makeup and/or thick sunscreen, then follow with a gentle cleanser. I especially like TIL's Oat Cleansing Balm because it doesn't irritate my eyes and removes mascara better than PC's Omega+ Complex Balm. Bonus points to TIL's for doubling as a soothing oat mask when my skin needs it.

To remove waterproof eyeliner and/or very stubborn mascara, I use Paula's Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover (the liquid, not the ineffective wipes) just on that part of my face.

A friend of mine loves using Neutrogena Fragrance Free Body Oil as a full face makeup remover, so that's another inexpensive option to consider.

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

@WinglessOne I got The INKEY List Mini Oat Cleansing Balm 1.7 oz/ 50 mL during the sale and am pleased with it.  I use it to remove eye makeup.   I'm a little concerned, tho, that because it's so thick it could cause clogging.  I follow it with a second cleanse with First Aid Beauty Mini Pure Skin Face Cleanser 2 oz/ 56.7 g.. I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

@greeneyedgirl107  Yay, I'm glad TIL Oat Cleansing Balm works well for you!

I’m not sure thickness of a product has much to do with pore clogging. I mean, some people still falsely say petrolatum clogs pores because it’s thick in balm form. But petrolatum doesn't sink deep down into pores and clog 'em. It sits atop skin and acts as a barrier that keeps water from escaping skin. If skin is well moisturized, it’s less likely to overproduce sebum in an attempt to hydrate and moisturize itself. Excess sebum is one of the things that actually clogs pores. When I use Aquaphor Ointment on the genetic oil slick in the middle of my face, it doesn't cause acne.

I think this is a case where you have to know your skin behavior and which (if any) ingredients seem to encourage your acne. Following the Oat Cleansing Balm with a regular cleanser is good; I'd recommend doing that regardless of which cleansing balm (or cleansing oil, or micellar water, etc.) you use at night to remove makeup. If in doubt, you could reduce use of this balm to just a few times a week for a while and see how your skin handles it.

Re: Makeup remover recommendations?

@SephoraTV @You would still have to double cleanse with the GR cleanser.
