How to get natural brows

Hello any advice on how to get natural looking brows? Every time I do mine they seem too arched or too dark.

Re: How to get natural brows

Most days, I only use a brow pencil. I use it to softly fill and to draw a few hair strokes where my brow tails are thinnest. The key is to use a very light hand and draw/fill only where you need it—not your entire brow. I fill in patches instead of coat my whole brow. I don’t outline the shape of my brows first because I don’t want the crisp brow look. I just lightly sketch short strokes in the direction my brow hairs naturally grow, then use the spoolie end of my pencil to soften the edges and blend a bit.

My favorite brow pencil is the Kimiko Super Fine Eyebrow Pencil. My old favorite (and one I still use sometimes) is Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer Shade 3.75 Some days I also use clear Glossier Boy Brow as an eye gel, if I’ve got a few unruly brow hairs.

What’s helped me the most is accepting certain things about my brows. For starters, my brow hairs don’t grow vertically like many people’s seem to. 😂 They naturally grow more horizontally. Most brow tutorials advise brushing your hairs straight up, but for me that results in an unnatural looking brow. So I start by brushing them in their natural direction. Again, that’s just what works for me. What works for you will depend on your brows’ natural state.

Also, my brows have slightly different shapes. I pluck one brow to make its arch look more like the other brow, but I don’t go crazy trying to make them identical. While plucking, I leave a few stray hairs alone for a more natural look.

Thank you for the tips this really helped! I think I’ve been pressing too hard and filling in too much and just brushing them whichever way without paying attention to where they naturally flow. I think this will really help me improve!

A great tequnique is to measure them first. Anastasia of Beverly Hills is a great brand to watch their golden rule measurements. I normally use a powder over the brow first to create a shadow, and then use a thin pencil like Sephora collection waterproof brow pencil to create little hairs on top of the powder.

@Anonymous @If you want more of a natural look I would go with powder and then use Brow Wiz to fill in the arch and tail of the brow. Make sure to comb through the brow so it doesn’t look to harsh. Maybe the color is too dark for you or you need to go with a lighter hand and build to the desired intensity?

Thank you for the tips! And I think the color might be too dark I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz in ebony and my brows are dark brown to black i think I’ll try pressing more lightly next time and see what happens.

Re: RE: Re: How to get natural brows

@Anonymous I use the color ebony but I have really dark brown hair that is dyed.  When matching the powder you want to go a shade darker than your hair color to make it look more natural. Sometimes it’s hard to match to your hair color if it’s dyed.

Thank you so much! I have black hair so I think I need to not press so hard when I do my brows.

Re: How to get natural brows

@Anonymous   For me, brows are right up there with foundation as far as having to search a long time until I found something that gave me the appearance I wanted. I have found that I prefer mostly using a product that applies like a mascara to cover my white brow hairs; to me that gives the most natural look.

If your brows are sparse and have some gray/white you want to cover, I highly recommend Givenchy's Mister Brow Filler Tinted Waterproof Brow Filler.  This is my go-to.  It has little fibers in the formula that miraculously attach to your skin and actually add little hairs to your brow!  And they adhere well also.

If you are happy with the fullness of your brows and just want to add some color, I don't think you can beat Anastasia of Beverly Hills' Dipbrow Gel.  Her shade selection is outstanding, and because she makes several other brow products (pencils, pomade, powder,) if you would like to add additional products to your brow routine it would be easy to find a matching shade.

Make sure to properly shade match! I kept picking the wrong shade and I thought I was just bad at doing my brows
