foundation for mature skin

Greetings,

I am 60. Need full coverage foundation but everything I have tried shows my very large pores and sinks into wrinkles and make my skin look dry. Primer does not help.

Too much moisturizing makes my pores look even larger. Help please.

Re: foundation for mature skin

I’m 62 and Estée Lauder stay in place double wear is my holy grail! Hope you like it!

Re: foundation for mature skin

Same here! I recently read somewhere that mature women (I still can't believe I'm 60 and now considered to be 'mature'!) should wear tinted moisturizers or BB creams instead of foundation. This seemed absurd to me, BUT... I've been using 2 lately that cover as well as foundation WITHOUT making my skin look dry & patchy or accentuating my enlarged & growing pores! The first one is Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (I use Light- Medium), the other is a BB cream by Younique. First I apply a moisturizing primer with dimethicone, then I use Dr. Brandt's 'Pores No More' over my large pore areas like cheeks, but never on my drier eye area. Then I apply the BB cream WITH A FOUNDATION BRUSH.... it helps the foundation/creme to glide over and prevents it from settling in pores and lines MUCH better than any sponge or fingers.

Re: foundation for mature skin

Anther trick I read was to only apply foundation where you need it. So I try not to apply it directly above my lips or below my mouth, or the outer corners of my eyes, since that's where I have the most wrinkles.

RE: foundation for mature skin

I am 41 and have tried every foundation out there trying to find something to cover my dark spots, won’t cake or crease, doesn’t pool in my pores and stays on. I gave in and tried Giorgio Armani’s luminous silk foundation, pricey, but I was extremely happy. The shade was the best match ever, light weight, lasting and such a great finish. For primers I use either professional by benefit or Becca’s ever-matter poreless primer in my T zone where I am a little oily and either KatVon D lock it or Too face Hangover every where else where I am drier. I highly recommend using a beauty blender to apply both.

RE: foundation for mature skin

Hi Echo24! I have similar issues and find that masking 2-3 times a week with a pore refining mask that includes egg whites and using a good moisturizer really helps whatever makeup I’m using. Having said that I use Stila stay all day foundation combined with Urban Decay Optical Illusion primer. That combo really works for me. Also, going a half shade darker can also hide a multitude of complexion “sins”. Hopefully that helps you. 😊

Re: foundation for mature skin

Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint is wonderful.  It literally glides on, but is neither oily or drying.  While it claims to be medium coverage, it really comes off as full coverage.  I switched to this foundation after reading an article on foundations for mature skin.   I could not be more pleased.

I cannot use primer or pore filler myself - 48 years old. Either I break out horribly or the product does not do what it says it does. You may want to mix your foundation with a tinted moisturizer and/or a drop of oil from your serum. Doing this has helped me spread the full coverage where I really need it and lighten the spots I don't. It will settle in a few wrinkles but not all of them. I have also experimented with Dr. Jart's Tiger Grass. It has a green tint but dries beige. Very light on your face but dries full coverage. And Benefit Cosmetics has just come out with a soft blur foundation, Hello Happy. I just picked it up today but I was extremely happy on how well it filled in my extremely large pores. Unsure of how the staying power will hold up at this time though. Good luck!
