age spot remover

I'm 53 and have some age/sun spots on my face. Does anything work well to fade them? I also wear a medium coverage foundation. Is there a good concealer that will hide them without being too obvious? Thanks!

Things that help fade dark spots include things with tyrosinase inhibitors (ie licorice root, kojic acid); hydroquinone (you can get up to 2% OTC); retinoids (or retinol OTC, all retinoids besides adalpene need a prescription). And of course - sunscreen to prevent them from getting darker. Unfortunately dark spots can be tough to get rid of.

Niacinamide is your friend. Murad has a dark spot remover serum. Summer Fridays has a serum, too. The new moisturizer from HUDA has it, too. AHAs will help, too, as do retinoids. Sunday Riley has Luna and Good Genes. I have found that, even though they aren’t red, the Tiger Drops from Dr. Jart works well to even them out, and then you do t have to go so even with the makeup. I use that, plus setting powder that’s close to my skin tone and then they are barely noticeable. I think it’s best to go for “good” rather than “perfect,” because you have seen that trying to completely cover them results in an overly made-up appearance.

You could use a Vitamin C serum to help fade hyperpigmentation like the OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright 15% Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum 1.0 oz/ 30 mL.  There's also OLEHENRIKSEN Glow2OH 7% AHA Exfoliating Dark Spot Toner 6.5 oz/ 190 mL.

For concealer, you could go with medium or full coverage.  I would personally choose one that has the same finish as the foundation.  For example, if your foundation is matte, choose a matte concealer.

To cover blemishes like dark spots, choose a concealer the same shade and undertone as your foundation.

I have sun spots as well. I’m using the Foreo mini cleansing brush and micro needle roller. The spots are much less Visible now. My skin is brighter . I haven’t Needed to use foundation .
