Over 40 make up tips

Hello. Anyone over 40 got any great makeup advice? Brands? Tips? Any help would be good! I tend to wear nothing but brown on my eyes. Generally dark on bottom of lid and light on the brow bone. I want to wear makeup better! Also, what do you ladies wear for foundation? Do you use powder?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Over 40 make up tips

Algenist has a BB I like a lot...it has color spf and moisture, so all you need under it is whatever serum you like. I use the Dr Jart Ceramide liquid for serum. You get about a gallon of it for 40ish dollars. I put it on underneath everything else I use...it also soothes cranky skin, sunburn, and "wow that mask was STRONG, " After that the deal is concealer, blush and eyebrows....then eyes and lips. A lot of stuff that is marketed as a necessity is just to get people insecure enough to buy an extra product. I tap powder on the areas I want matte with my fingers because brushes deposit so much powder that the face looks "floury". Best foundation hack after powder is to spritz the face with a light mist of rose water or  setting mist. This gives you glow without grease!

RE: Over 40 make up tips

I like Too Faced Born This Way line (foundation, powders). I stay away from anything "matte" and look for the words "dewy" or "luminous". Aside from the Born this way setting powder, I gravitate toward pressed rather than loose setting powders and I always use a setting spray (I like to use Mario Badesco (sp?) rose water spray) then take a damp beauty blender to pat the the powder into my skin. I love highlighters, but I keep them back closer to the temple, a little on my forehead above the brow and just a tiny tap on my chin. Shimmers show up texture, so I'm always mindful of that. I use concealer under my foundation rather than over. I'm always looking for good makeup products made for women over 35, aside from moisturizers, serums, basically a prayer in a jar. Skincare is vital (I'm a sheet mask junkie!), but we have plenty of that. I love using color on my eyes, but tend to steer clear of anything too glittery (Stila magnificent metals glitter shadows are gorgeous, but a little goes a lonnnnnnng way). I wish there was an affordable makeup line (say $30 foundation........) geared towards women over 40 that uses color and makes it fun. I love Tarte and Too Faced, their shadow palettes are beautiful. So is Lorac and I've heard Hourglass stick foundation is great, but it's a tad pricey for me......

Perricone MD No Makeup Makeup range is very good for a subtle look, especially the lipstick and liquid blush.  Not cheap, but has skin care ingredients for a bit more oomph.  It Cosmetics CC+ cream is a great alternative to foundation, also with skin caring ingredients and spf.

Hope this helps.
