Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

It’s so hard purchasing anything online these days! You don’t know if you can believe the reviews because they have bots and others that have an interest/bias in your purchase! I hope it’s different here.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for reducing fine lines around eyes and upper lip area?

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

Hi!  I am 59 years old, am absolutely in love with this Skinfix Serum.  It is fabulous to help with skin moisture retention, plump skin, and help with fine lines.  I use this on my face and neck.  It leaves my skin soft and silky smooth.  Also, no irritation at all on my sensitive skin.  It is great to wear under makeup, too.

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

@cynthiampaine  I’m 50something with prominent undereye lines and hollow tear troughs, plus I’m now getting more sunken skin all around my orbital bone (happens naturally as we age). @danielledanielle‘s recommendation of The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% Serum for Facial Wrinkles 1 oz/ 30 mL is a good one. Argireline won’t erase your lines, but it can soften them with consistent use. It’s what I’ve often used around my eyes.

Or, consider trying The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides 1% Serum  around your eyes and lips. This serum also contains argireline, plus a few other peptides that may help with lines. I’d normally use it on my whole face (alternating it with the non-copper peptide version of the same serum; The Ordinary used to call it “Buffet” before renaming it), but for the last 2 months I’ve used it twice daily just around my eyes. It hasn’t removed my lines—no topical product can do that longterm—but it’s definitely softened them. Since this serum’s loaded with hydrating ingredients, it plumps my skin up a bit to help it look less sunken. Some of that might also be thanks to the copper peptide (copper tripeptide-1, aka GHK-Cu), which has been studied as a collagen production stimulator among other things.

If you just wanna target lines, maybe try the Argireline Solution serum and see how that works for you. If you also need something for dryness and sunken skin, then try the Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides serum instead. No need to buy both (unless you use ‘em on different parts of your face) since they share argireline as an ingredient. Whichever you choose, definitely follow with a moisturizer. Doesn’t have to be a fancy eye cream; I just use my full face moisturizer around my eyes. If I need something more occlusive (water loss preventing), I follow that with Aquaphor Ointment or CeraVe Healing Ointment; Vaseline or any other petrolatum-based balm would also work to seal in hydration.

And while I’m here rambling on and on 😅: fake reviews—whether written by bots or real people—are terrible and I wish there was an easy way to zap ‘em all. When I read product reviews, I often start with some of the negative/lowest rating ones and then read some mid tier (3 star) ones, before reading 4 and 5 star reviews. That way, I get more of a full picture. Plus, I’m usually looking for answers to a specific product question I have (is this gloss sticky; does this sunscreen pill; is this mascara a flaky mess; etc.), so I skim reviews for that info. Eh, it helps me weed out the fake ones. I do tend to trust reviews by folks here on BIC (the community you’re reading right now). We’re generally an honest bunch here.

I’d add The Ordinary’s Matrixyl to that list. Use it after the Argirline. Also I’ve been prescribed Retin-A .05% and I’m just now moving up to the .1%. It’s made a HUGE difference to my skin!
For awhile I was using NIOD’s CAIS3 and it was fantastic!!! It got to pricey for me but if you can find it during the November sale then go for it! You won’t be sorry!

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

@BellaEve17  (and @cynthiampaine)  Matrixyl 3000 is also in The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides 1% Serum  (as well as the non-copper version of that serum). So is Matrixyl Synthe'6. So, that Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides serum is a one-step option for all those ingredients. 😉

I used NIOD FECC (Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate) for a few years and it was pretty good. I stopped because it was pricey, and because I’d started using my retinaldehyde serum under my eyes a couple times a week. I couldn’t justify FECC’s price compared to just bringing my full-face retinal up onto my undereyes. TO’s Multi-Peptide + Copper Peptides serum is much less expensive, and a bottle lasts much longer than a bottle of FECC.

Speaking of retinoids: I’m glad to hear tretinoin’s been so helpful to you! My dermatologist and I agreed a few years ago that my skin wouldn’t tolerate tret but might do well with retinaldehyde instead. And after a few years of consistent retinal, perhaps my skin would be able to handle tret if I still wanted to go that route. I currently use Medik8 Crystal Retinal 20; before this, I used their CR 10 serum—and that was after years of using Avene RetrinAL 0.1 Intensive Cream (the old formula; they recently reformulated it). And before retinal, I used retinol and granactive retinoid. Within the vitamin A family range I’ve tried so far, retinaldehyde’s my happy place.

If you had to pick only one to start with, which would it be me why?

Also, what benefits do you see from the three together?

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

@LittleSaturday I would start off with Strivectin. You don’t need both the eye creams just one. I see an improvement in fine line and wrinkles.

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% Serum for Facial Wrinkles 1 oz/ 30 mLfor softening fine lines.  It's pretty watery, so I tap it in quickly.  For my undereyes, I usually will add in a hydrating eye cream, too.  @WinglessOne put me onto the serum @cynthiampaine

Re: Need Anti-Aging product recommendation from real women!

I’ve always used a spray bottle for Argireline as well as any other really watery serums. TO’s Multi Active Delivery System, their GF 15% Solution & Amino Acids + B5

I get the 30ml & 60ml dark spray bottles on Amazon… they work super well!
