Weening Myself Off Proactive

Hello Friends!

I've been on Proactive for 20 years. I've tried twice to ween myself off this product and both times have broken out like I'm 16 years old again. I really want to stop using this product and avoid breaking out as much as possible. Anyone have suggestions how to ween myself off? Or better yet, a good skin care system I should be using? I still have hormonal acne but I am 40 now so I'm looking for a great anti aging skin care routine as well. I'm 100% OK mixing product lines to find the right match....

Re: Weening Myself Off Proactive

I’m also trying to get off proactive since it’s been drying my skin out, I’ve been using the Laniege water bank moisturizer whenever proactive starts to cause problems. (I’ll use the Moisturizer when needed then go back to Proactive) I think this strategy will also help with getting off it as well.

Hope this Helps!!

Same here! Been using Proactiv original formula for 20+ years and have unsuccessfully tried to stop a couple of times. Were you successful after this post?

Re: Weening Myself Off Proactive

Hi, just wondering if you had success getting off proactiv?

Re: Weening Myself Off Proactive

Hi, I would recommend a hydrating cleanser if you have dry skin by Skin Fix and their face cream. if not Vanicream is good a cleanser which can be found in target or Walmart and Vanicream daily facial moisturize. It's perfect for dry or oily skin. Using a mineral sunscreen will also help by preventing dark spots. I recommend Supergoop sunscreen or Biossance. Those products have save my skin from proactiv. I discover that proactiv had destroy my skin barrier because their ingredients contain harsh chemicals. I would also recommend searching on ways to heal your skin barrier. Also, I recommend to just use a gentle cleanser, moisturize, and sunscreen for about 2-3 months just allow your skin to heal. 🙂

if you have dry under eyes I recommend Biossance eye cream and using pimple patches for breakouts at night.
