Skinceuticals CE ferulic acid.

I have hormonal acne and combination skin leaning more towards dry.

I received a sample of the CE ferulic acid and have been trying it for a week and see some breakouts and wondering if my skin is purging or is my skin rejecting it and hence the breakouts?. Im using it every other day for a week now. It has definitely helped with acne marks though.

Anyone else face the same? It was worse with Drunk Elephant C-firma and I stopped using it immediately. any suggestions?

@geethab90 Some people are definitely very sensitive to vitamin C and both the Skinceuticals and the DE formulas have a decently high potency--I think they're both between 15-20%.  You may need to either skip vitamin C products altogether if your skin continues to react poorly OR seek out something with a lighter percentage of vitamin C and see if things go better.

Unfortunately if you read a lot of reviews you will notice that it causes acne in some folks, probably because of the vitamin E. Not everyone can use vitamin C, your skin may not be able to tolerate it. Try a different formula - the Dermstore blog breaks down different kinds and has recommendations that are less active e.g. Vichy.

@geethab90 I haven't had this problem but at a week out it's probably still too soon to tell if it's purging or reacting poorly. I would give it another week if possible (IDK how big the sample is) and see what happens. If the breakouts get worse, definitely stop using it. If they get better/stay the same for a week it might just be purge
