Help me please!!

I have a 12 year old daughter. She is very self conscious about her skin. She has a lot of redness on the cheeks. I am trying to get her a foundation that is good for her. She has combo skin. And I also so want something that is not over 40$. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Re: Help me please!!

I second those who have recommended Dr. Jart + Color Correcting Treatment. It's perfect for covering redness and I essentially use it in place of foundation because I don't like to wear a lot of makeup--I also have combination skin. The big jar is $52 (totally worth it), but you can get a smaller one for $18. Really amazing product since it's 3 products in 1--color corrector, moisturizer, and sunscreen! I think this is an ideal product for someone that young!

RE: Help me please!!

Does she have texture skin on her cheeks too?

Yes a little bit

I have a 12 year old daughter with dry skin and redness issues as well. She wears Too Faced Born this Way and loves it.

Re: Help me please!!

I'll throw in another vote for checking out the Dr. Jart BB creams. They have excellent coverage while still being fairly light. If she is going to start wearing face makeup though, make sure she has a consistent makeup removal and cleansing routine so that clogged pores and acne don't become a problem.

Re: Help me please!!

Ooh yes I second this! Make sure if she starts wearing any makeup on her face she also starts a skin care routine - I like clinique for teens its very gentle .

RE: Help me please!!

I would highly recommend Dr Jart’s Premium Beauty Balm. That, combined with Urban Decay’s Hot Springs Moisturizing Gel before bed, helped completely transform my super-sensitive skin that was constantly suffering rosacea and acne breakouts. I also recommend Sephora Cleansing Wipes in Yuzu or Rose. I take off all my makeup the moment I get home using those wipes because they are so gentle and effective, and because it lets my pores breathe.

Re: Help me please!!

@Melissag326 I haven’t tried it personally but you might want to look at or have her try a sample of -

1. DR. JART+
Cicapair ™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30

2. IT COSMETICS
Anti-Aging Armour™ Super Smart Skin-Perfecting Beauty Fluid SPF 50+

3. DRUNK ELEPHANT Umbra tinte SPF 30 moisturizer (might be safest if all but might not give enough coverage, I use it daily)

or

4. Dr Jart BB cream (I have tried it and really like it) before going the foundation route.

Re: Help me please!!

So this product is not available at Sephora, but it's really been a game-changer for me.

EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46.

It's amazing on several fronts.  First of all, it's broad spectrum sunscreen with zinc that is somehow clear, not white.  It prevents AND treats acne, roseaca, and hyperpigmentation.  Seriously.   And lastly, it comes in both tinted and untinted, so you blend them together, depending on how much coverage you need.

Re: Help me please!!

Since your daughter is only 12, it'd probably be better to wear tinted moisturizer for her skin rather than foundation.  The tinted moisturizer I usually end up turning to is either Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free ($45ish, I think) or Nars Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. The LM tinted moisturizer has buildable coverage, so she can add a little more on her cheeks where redness is. Both will let her skin breathe as well. You can also do the same thing, I've found, with the Nars TM too. Clinique is also a good brand to look at, and at a lower price point. They do make a Redness Solutions line, which might also help. They have a yellow stick and powder to cancel out redness, and both disappear into skin (I have both and hereditary rosacea). There's also a foundation that would work well. Barring that, Clinique has a BB and a CC cream. I tried both and they were too dry for my already dry skin, and not easily spread on my skin without a primer, but those would likely also be an another option for her. Their City Block SPF in 25 and 40 are great too. Sunscreen under whatever makeup she wears will help keep the redness from getting any worse. Other than Clinique, Origins DOES make good cleansers and moisturizers. I will say that the Dr. Andrew Weil Mega Mushroom line is specifically for skin with redness and/or rosacea and has kept my skin, my sister's and my dad's skin all in check with regards to redness. It *IS* pricier, I won't lie, but it really does help a lot. You may want to check that out too. Hope this helps.

RE: Re: Help me please!!

I like the tinted moisturizer idea you suggested

RE: Help me please!!

You might want to check out a bb/cc cream or a tinted moisturizer! It will give light coverage to help with redness without being too heavy. The dr. Jart beauty balm, the IT cosmetics cc cream or the NARS tinted moisturizer are awesome choices!! If you want to go the full foundation route I agree that the milk makeup foundation is an excellent choice!

RE: Help me please!!

The milk makeup blur liquid foundation or Estée Lauder doublewear foundation. If you can go into a Sephora and ask a Cast member to colour match her and for a sample of each so that she can do a full day wear test of both.
