Foundation for acne skin

Hi! I’m looking for a foundation for everyday use. I have acne and am currently using retinol and antibiotics which have made my skin drier and flakier. I typically prefer full coverage to cover my acne scars and blemishes, but not cakey or heavy. Also, I would prefer if it had a natural but matte finish. Any help is appreciated. 😊

Re: Foundation for acne skin

Hi! I’m using Lancôme’s ultra teint stick foundation but as a spot concealer! I bought the stick form because it is full coverage, matte and oil-free but it feels lighter than a liquid foundation! It feels easier to use and blend, and it’s helping my acne clear up without adding congestion🙌

Re: Foundation for acne skin

I have lived the same. Accutane, tretinoin, the whole nine. I’ve found my best combo for years has been the Too Faced Born This Way concealer all over my face to cover spots, plus it’s hydrating, and then I layer the KVD Lock It Full Coverage foundation over that. KVD offers crazy coverage. It’s worked for me and does not cause me more breakouts, and the skin looks healthier. If you don’t want the KVD, you can try the Estée Lauder Double Wear. It’s a little lighter than the KVD, and also provides full coverage, while being non-comedogenic. The Dior Forever Matte would be my third option. I always set foundation with the Chanel Ultra Le Teint foundation powder. These have saved my life. Lol I hope this helps!

Re: Foundation for acne skin

So I had all the same issues you are going through and I ended up with Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Oil Free Hydration. Ulta says it’s buildable medium to full coverage with matte finish (I can’t look at the Sephora site right now without knocking this response off). However depending what I use I may look a little dewey/I usually only go medium coverage when I’m really dry since I find the more of any make-up I put on the more it’s obvious that my skin is flaking.

Good luck! It also really helps to have a good primer and moisturizer before you put anything else on!
