Can someone help me explain this?

IMG_9311.jpeg

Around 2 weeks ago the bigger blemish on the left appeared on my face and I don’t know why. Then a week later those other red spots appeared. My skin has never looked this bad before and I could use some help. The other side of my face is perfectly fine, it seems I’m just breaking out on one side. I’ve changed my skincare routine to see if it was any of the products and I don’t think so. Also, I changed my pillowcases. I do not have acne, so please ignore the hashtags. These red spots are nothing I’ve dealt with before, it’s not a pimple that can be popped. I could really really use the help because I feel pretty powerless against it. Please help anyway you can!

Re: Can someone help me explain this?

@itzroo  I just want to add that sometimes one sided breakouts can be the result of a mindless habit that introduces a virus bacteria or fungus to your skin, such as leaning your face or your hand or hair twirling.
I agree you should see a dermatologist or a naturopath to rule out any precancerous lesions, rosacea or allergic reactions (they don’t always appear symmetrical either)  With allergies hives can appear, disappear and reappear in different areas.

in the meantime a little colour correction can help conceal them if you find them bothersome.  blot a little green right over top of the redness and then tap a concealer over top being sure not to rub the green off.

What you absolutely do know when you have redness is that you’re dealing with inflammation so you should take steps to lower inflammation in your body.

Re: Can someone help me explain this?

@itzroo  Sorry your skin’s throwing a tantrum. If you can see a board certified dermatologist or your primary care doctor, I recommend you do that. It’s best for a derm or other doc to diagnose your skin and come up with a personalized treatment plan for you. I mean, none of us here on BIC are doctors who can tell you what’s happening with your skin. All we can do is guess, and any product suggestions we recommend might make your skin worse without addressing the root cause.

Example: that could be acne. There are different types of acne and it doesn’t all look like pustules (what most folks call pimples). Or, it could be a skin condition that mimics acne, like rosacea. Or you could be having a bad reaction to something in a product that’s touched that side of your face, such as the detergent you use to wash pillowcases or hand cream/lotion if you sometimes rest your face against your hand, or even shampoo/conditioner. Only a doctor can determine what’s happening.

The one product I will recommend, though, is sunscreen. Whatever’s going on with your skin, UV rays can definitely worsen it. If you don’t already use a sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30 each day your skin’s exposed to sunlight, regardless of weather or season, now’s a good time to start that good habit. 🙂

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help! I will definitely look into it
