Back acne

How to get rid of back acne?

Re: Back acne

@Evaaaaa123  In addition to the other recommendations in this thread, you might consider:

  • Use a salicylic acid face wash on your back - a couple times a week, use it on your back just like you would on your face. CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser and The INKEY List Salicylic Acid Acne + Blackhead Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL are a couple that contain 2% salicylic acid. If you’re not sensitive to benzoyl peroxide, you could try using PanOxyl Face Wash the same way; maybe try the 4% strength version. (It also comes in 10% strength, but that can be rather irritating for some people.)

  • Wash your back after you’ve washed/conditioned your hair (if you shampoo in the shower) - sometimes hair products and/or buildup can clog the pores on your back and worsen acne there. Try rinsing out all your rinsable hair products (shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, masks, etc.) first, and then wash your back to remove any leftover residue.

  • Don’t wear tight/form-fitting tops all day if you’re sweaty - the longer you do that, the greater chance of bacteria invading your pores with the help of clothes pressing against your skin. Change tops at some point of the day. Wash your back too, if you can, or at least wipe it down with micellar water on a clean cloth (or disposable sheet, like the Clean Skin Club towels) large enough for you to maneuver on your back. This tip also applies if you wear a backpack and get sweaty while carrying it.

If your back acne is very stubborn, consider seeing a dermatologist or your primary care doctor for diagnosis and personalized treatment options. Some folks need medication to treat their acne, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

@Evaaaaa123 Panoxyl, Dermalogica, Naturium, and Differin all make sprays that are designed for use on the body and the spray format makes it easier to apply to your back.
