Acne

I have been struggling with my acne and need help.I would like some product request and anything else that I need to do. This is what my skin looks like> the pictures down below. the current products that I’m using are okay, so I use shea moisture African black soap bamboo charcoal detoxifying foaming facial wash.  I had worse acne then I do know before I started using shea moisture but if went away and then my acne came back. I also use cera ve itch reused moisturizing lotion for my face because it is very light. My skin does not like heavy moisturizers. So I use this one it is light and airy. My skin is slightly sensitive aswell and not oily or dry. I only wash my face at night, I was my pillow cases often. If there is any products I should be using please let me know and if I need to start a better routine of morning and night let me know aswell. Thank you for your help.

Re: Acne

Hi there!

Fellow acne sufferer and let me just say- I feel you. What might work for me may not work for you but I’m going to share a few of my favs;

1. Face wash- I opt for gentle and moisturizing because I have dry skin and breakouts The Ordinary The Balance Set is a really good start if you want all the products. I will say the Hyaluronic Acid and face wash is good but you can definitely do without the moisturizer.

2. Chemical Exfoliants- this one will depend on budget, skin type, etc. A few of my fav products though are Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Universal Daily Peel Pads , The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating and Brightening Daily Toner 8 oz/ 240 mL , The INKEY List SuperSolutions 10% Azelaic Serum 1 oz / 30 mL  don’t use all of these at one given time but give one a try and be consistent with it (I only do chemical peels 1-3 times a week because I’m extremely sensitive)

3. Serums- I use HA (by the ordinary) and caffeine (by the ordinary) for my under eyes but definitely do your homework as to what mixes well in a routine because some acids will have an adverse reaction

4. Moisturize- personally I have been loving the Soon Jung moisturizer (you can find this on Amazon but it’s so lightweight and affordable)

5. Sunscreen every morning- personally I think that what used to irritate me the most was my old sunscreen as it would make my pimples look super inflamed. I currently use a Korean sunscreen by Beauty of Joseon (you can also find this on Amazon)

I have yet to try out vitamin c serum daily but I heard it’s great for evening out skin tone. Remain consistent in your routine and I can guarantee you’ll see some progress. Sometimes it’s about finding something you enjoy putting on and something that has a science backing- I avoid things with essential oils as my skin is reactive to it.

I use over the counter retinol a few times a week, it’s called Adapalene by AcneFree.

Not sure if that’s a big culprit to my skin clearing but give it a go!
