ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

I NEED THIS GONE!!!! i wear a lot of makeup. but i take it all off at the end of the day. A L L!! i moisturize so much so i donโ€™t become dry and breakout worse. i have about 6 products im using and none have done the magic!!!๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ mostly all i can use is salicylic acid so lmk!

Re: ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

I would give the kiehlโ€™s blue herbal line a try (there face wash and toner especially) I used it myself, and i know a few other people who cleared their skin up using that system. The toner is a strong salicylic acid treatment. Have you tried niacinamide and zinc products ? If not try The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum for Oily Skin serum and then an oil free moisturizer like CLINIQUE Limited Edition Moisture Surgeโ„ข 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I would maybe cut down on the amount of products you use. Derms always say to keep it simple. So cleanser, toner, a treatment or serum, and then a cream. If that doesnโ€™t start clearing it  up though you can go to a walk-in clinic or see your family GP and they can prescribe tactupump which is a good acne prescription to start with. At least to use well your waiting for a dermatologist appointment.

Re: ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

Hello,

I am not an expert but this clay mask has considerably reduced my acne and now I am also open to trying out more products because I know I will be able to control my breakouts with this if it happens. If you do use this, I would suggest to moisturize heavily after and use the TO niacinamide + zinc serum for oil sebum ๐Ÿ™‚

RE: ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

Hi @Haybug99. I can totally relate to your struggle with acne for Iโ€™ve been dealing with it myself for more than half my life. Everyoneโ€™s case is different, so what may or may not have worked for me in the past may have a completely different effect on you, hopefully for the better. I have literally tried everything, and I mean everything, both OTC and prescription-strength (including oral medication), and recently begged my dermatologist to try a second round of Accutane, which I hope to start this month. But again, I am not your typical acne case by any means. That being said, I have learned quite a bit along the way to at least clear up some of my acne and improve my skin. I looked at the products that you use and although I am not familiar with all of them, I can tell you from experience that the Neutrogena products are extremely drying, to the point that they are counterproductive. Seriously, toss them in the garbage. They may be ok for a person who gets an occasional pimple or has very mild acne, but definitely not for you or me for that matter. Try gentle yet moisturizing facial cleansers instead, like Cetaphil or Cerave, the regular ones (I personally love Cerave face wash). Since you wear a lot of makeup, you may want to use either gentle makeup removing wipes beforehand or a gentle oil- based cleanser prior to the main facial cleanser. Donโ€™t be afraid of the oil part - the good ones will not make your skin oily/ clog your pores yet still help to moisturize your skin. I like the Josie Maranโ€™s Argan oil cleanser but there are a ton of other brands at Sephora, Ulta, and even Amazon that are great as well. As far as treating the acne, itโ€™s a lot of trial and error honestly. You may want to look into The Ordinary products, which you can find at both Sephora and Ulta and are very inexpensive yet work very well for many people. They also have a website. Sephora now also sells the Inkey List (I think thatโ€™s what itโ€™s called), which is similar to The Ordinary, even cost-wise. I personally havenโ€™t tried their products yet but they have tons of positive reviews and a huge following, so itโ€™s worth a try. Itโ€™s great that you use moisturizer daily. Just make sure that the ingredients wonโ€™t clog your pores, like mineral oil typically does. Definitely continue to moisturize every morning and night. And apply a gentle non-comedogenic SPF in the morning as well. All of the essences, toners, and serums I would probably hold off on for awhile until your skin is more balanced and your acne starts to clear. But since I am not a doctor, I would definitely suggest seeing a dermatologist if your acne isnโ€™t going away. She or he will be able to assess the type of acne that you have and the best way to treat it. Sorry for the long post. I just hope I can help someone else. Good luck with everything!

ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

you would need a prescription cream from the doctor. I use the clindoxyl gel

Re: RE: Re: ACNE RECOMMENDATIONS

Hi @Haybug99 !!

What i can suggest you is first to find out what is causing your acne

-Hormones? ( Did you go off the pill in the last month?)

-Hygene? (Do you touch your face a lot?)

-New product (Cream, shampoo?)

After that you will be able to buit a perfect skincare routine based on your needs!

This is the step that i would recommend if you wear a lot makeup every day :

AM

1.Water based cleanser GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser

2. HA serum THE ORDINARY - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

3. Toner

4. Serum + Vit C HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum

5. Moisturizer DR. JART+ - Teatreementโ„ข Moisturizer

6. Mineral sun protection

7. Makeup

PM

1. Oil-based cleanser (THE DOUBLE CLEANSING METHOD IS BOMBTHE ORDINARY - Squalane Cleanser

2. Water-based cleanser

3. HA serum

4. Salicylic acide Toner #Paula's Choice BHA 2% Toner

5. Serum THE ORDINARY - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

7. Moisturizer

8. Face Oil

If you want to add an benzoyl peroxide cream, i would add this one at the end of the PM regiment (After moisturizer and Oil)

Find product with acne fighting ingredients like

  • Salicylic acid
  • Glycolic acid
  • Azelaic acid
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Zinc
  • Nicinamide

Don't forget to be consistent and patient, do not touch your face and maybe go and get a professional facial to give you a good start!

xx

Claudie
