What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

FARMER'S MARKET HAUL TIME!!

It's been raining so much in Northern California during these past couple of months, I've been going crazy without my fresh, local, organic produce!20170216_135009.jpeg

We have Pink Lady apples in the first bowl. Garlic (yay! fresh garlic), yellow and red onions in the bowl towards the back. There's also a bag of dark raisins (for oatmeal) and a Eureka lemon (yum)

The big leafy greens are a couple types of chard.

Tomatoes on the vine.

Big fat brussel sprouts. Yukon gold, red and russet potatoes.

And the best of the bunch, the hen of the wood/maitake mushrooms as well as the ugly shi.takes. I don't discriminate, this is what they're called.

And in case anybody was wondering what almost a pound of maitake looks like, here's Henry

Re: What's on your plate?

Wow all of this looks so good! Right up my alley! I'm licking my chops. What do you plan to use the shrooms for?

Re: What's on your plate?

I know, @DiVWA, this is your kind of fest!

I think of you and your helpful books whenever I go hunting for produce.

So far, I made a chard, maitake, garlic dish on the side of our lambies yesterday. Lots more to work with though. Any suggestions?

Re: What's on your plate?

Dem mushrooms, yo....I dig it!

And dem big ol' fat brussel sprouts!!! Nice!!!!!!

Re: What's on your plate?

omg I use to love this thread, posting to bump for reference! will post pics in the future hehe

Re: What's on your plate?

Awesome, Sonny4President! Food pics are always welcome! If you end up cooking up something nice, feel free to also share the recipe too!

Re: What's on your plate?

Mmmmm. Just finished a rather big lunch (for us). Wild salmon burger on dandelion greens and sliced pickles accompanied by sauteed mustard greens drizzled with bourbon-aged maple syrup. Fruit was tangelo slices.

I squeeze some sriracha sauce on top of the burger and then add raw sauerkraut on top. Very satisfying.

Re: What's on your plate?

This looks delicious! I really like your photos. 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

SALMON!!!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!

Was it a pre-made salmon patty or did you put it together yourself? I keep seeing frozen salmon patties at Costco but never get them...but they always catch my eye.

Re: What's on your plate?

These are the wild frozen ones from Costco. You really should try them. They are easy to make and full of nutrition.

Re: What's on your plate?

Ooooo nice, I'm glad the ones you have are the same ones I've seen so that way your direct input/opinion on them apply!

I just made a Costco trip Sunday (derp), but my next visit I'll have to make it a point to find these!

Re: What's on your plate?

Not meal-related (but still food-related), but this weekend when I was grocery shopping I received quite a compliment.

I happened to be wearing this top from Loft---

I was in getting bananas when one of the workers who was restocking fruits and veggies goes, "That green is very pretty on you! It's beautiful, like fresh produce!" 😄

I got a nice kick out of that!

Re: What's on your plate?

I make quite a striking ugly shi.take.

P.S. SHI.TAKE is a swear word. Insult with caution.

Re: What's on your plate?

It's a lovely top and a nice gorgeous green. I'm sure you were quite fetching in it! 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you, DiVWA! When the top came in I was surprised it's almost of a tunic length on me (because I'm short) which I love!

Re: What's on your plate?

We get our grass-fed lamb from a shepherdess whose farm is about 3 hours away. The cuts we get are sometimes a bit uncommon (compared to store-bought lamb). Last night we had sliced steak made from obviously the lower part of the leg. The broiled steaks were served on dandelion leaves with some steamed broccolini drizzled with roasted walnut oil.

Re: What's on your plate?

My eyes keep wanting to make some sort of order/pattern of the orange slices and blueberries lined up. It could just be me and my mind just wants to make more of it than it actually is, but how I do love that blue and orange contrast! ^_^

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you (I think) ;). I liked the contrast myself. I wanted to keep the orange away from the dandelion greens (although they taste great together) and have a color separation between the long ends of both dark green foods. (Actually it's a backward L as a secret code to the love of my life.)

Re: What's on your plate?

Let the flavors mix when you're getting chowed down on 🙂

I love the color of your plates, now you need a green top to wear so you can look as vibrant as the produce you enjoy and share pics of!

Re: What's on your plate?

I do have some green tops.... hmmmmm... I wonder if I'll be noticed in the produce department if I wear it.

Re: What's on your plate?

I feel like now I need to task everyone who chimes into this thread with wearing some bold top that corresponds with some food aspect and challenge them to get food-related compliments at the grocery store. 😛

This could be fun haha!
