Weekly Beauty Challenge: Favorite Red Lipstick

Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking: "Candace, it is hot as the dickens outside, who in the world is thinking about lipstick?" Well, I am (I work at a beauty company, what do you want from me?) Because July 4th is rapidly approaching, and I always rock the "Red" in "Red, White & Blue" with a bold (and patriotic!) lip.

So for this week's Beauty Challenge, I want you to rep for your rouge: What's your favorite red lipstick? (Am I the only one who wears red lipstick on July 4th? I can't be the only one, right?) And because I love you and I know you mean well, if you name a brand Sephora doesn't carry, I won't hold it against you. Much.

I've tried others; Estee Lauder, Guerlain, YSL, and gave up. There is nothing better than Chanel's "Coco Red" at being the longest lasting, most hydrating, and most bold/opaque color.

My favorite red lipsticks:

• Nars Satin Lip Pencil - Gloshan
• Nars Pure Matte Lipstick - Amsterdam
• Shiseido Lacquer Rouge - RD607 Nocturne
• Lipstick Queen - Medieval
• Julie Hewett - Gem Noir
• Kate Spade Supercalifragilipstick - Adventurous Red

The two lipsticks I use the most (aka almost everyday) are Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Gloshan and Lipstick Queen's Medieval Lipstick.

I'm still a bit skittish with red lip products, but I do love Kat Von D's Adora lipstick!  I need to get a full size of it since I used up my mini version of it.

@candacebt Lip Insurance can also be used under gloss, which is awesome (and doesn't change the color of your lips the way concealer or other lip primers do).

And great tips, @makeupmaven! The apply / blot / apply / powder method is a little time consuming, but works!

I also used Too Faced Lip Insurance, which makes sure your color doesn't budge!
