(UPDATE: It's Solar Bloom from Clean Reserve) Guess the Newness!

UPDATED 2/26: Thank you for all your guesses, the ingredient we showed was charcoal and the brand is Clean, who is launching CLEAN RESERVE Reserve - Solar Bloom 3.4oz/100mL today! This is a warm floral scent with the Clean at Sephora label. On top of that, this fragrance and is made with sustainable ingredients to lessen their environmental impact from the vetiver and green mandarin in the perfume to the eco-friendly dyes, recyclable glass bottle, and FSC-certified paper in their packaging. Their focus on sustainability is truly inspiring! Be sure to give this a spritz and let us know what you think!

Happy Friday, BIC! I thought we could end this crazy week with one of our favorite past times... A guessing game! This is a little sneak peek at one of our next launches and I want to see if you can guess which new launch is on the horizon.

You've all gotten very good at guessing the right product but this time we're talking about a product nobody is talking about yet. (Well, to my knowledge at least... There are some expert beauty spies out there!)

As usual, we cannot say too much and, frankly, that would take all the fun out of the game... Onto the hints!

Hint #1: sustainability is very important to this brand.

Hint #2:

What do you think is coming and from which brand? Give us your best guess!

Re: Guess the Newness!

@missjeanie  was correct, this is new a fragrance! Here's a quote from the perfumer who created this new scent called Solar Bloom

“Solar Bloom came together when I thought about how a luminous solar note could brighten a charcoal accord. I wanted to bring both contrast and texture – the feeling of warm sun on wood – adding vibrancy and comfort to the earthy tones of the charcoal, and the sensuality of the musk and coconut as it lingers on the skin.”

Knowing this is a fragrance, can you guess which brand this came from?

Re: Guess the Newness!

I did some snooping and found the answer! It really is Clean. The Fashion.at magazine posted an article that included the perfume 🙂Screenshot_20190225_225418.jpg

Here's what they had to say about it:

Spoiler
Eau de parfum 'Solar Bloom' (available from March 2019) by Clean Reserve; the label is committed to sustainability and social responsibility. 'Solar Bloom' has the appeal of a classical perfume with modern twist; it may remind the wearer of classical chypre perfumes (chypre is the name for a perfume concept, 'Chypre' means 'Cyprus' in French), but with a sensual powdery layer and instead of sandalwood or patchouli, the smoky animalic warm notes are composed from charcoal, ambrox, musk, vetiver - and coconut water. It's said that goddess Aphrodite (the one who was born out of a foam at the coast) was a native of Cyprus and a fan of perfumes. Well, the unisex perfume 'Solar Bloom' may evoke many associations which reach far back to the early history of perfumery and forth to modern, light interpretations of the beauty of nature. The eau de parfum belongs to the Clean Reserve fragrance family 'radiant floral'. Perfumer Annie Buzantian reinterpreted impressions of morning twilight, the first sun rays and their warmth on wood into a composition with (head note) bergamot, green mandarin, freesia, (heart notes) orange blossom, jasmine blossom, (base note) charcoal, ambrox, cedarwood, musk, coconut water, vetiver. Vetiver and green tangerine are delivered by eco-friendly working small farmers.

Re: Guess the Newness!

@SpaceLlamawow, thanks for this!! Interesting it's supposed to be reminiscent of a chypre too!! Chypres are really structural when they're good, very complex, so I don't associate this genre with Clean which is more minimalist. Sephora also doesn't carry many chypres. The closest I can think of off the top of my head is Replica's Promenade in the Gardens which is not a true chypre.

Typically, with a chypre you would have bergamot with oakmoss or patchouli and labdanum as a skeleton. I'm wondering how close SN will be to the chypres I've enjoyed. Definitely curious!

Re: Guess the Newness!

@SpaceLlama look at you, beauty spy!! I am very impressed by your sleuthing skills 🙂

Re: Guess the Newness!

I'm going to guess again that Solar Bloom is from Clean.  Likely a Reserve fragrance.  I believe they're one of the first fully sustainable fragrance companies.  It's certainly a company I can feel good about purchasing from and the description of Solar Bloom sounds like something very unique, something that no one else in your office would be wearing, but something that will still have a simplicity to it. I think this would fit well into their line up and well into my collection! @KatieBT ! Thanks for the shout out!  I was think outside the box a little and think about what I would want that would be a bit on the creative side!

Re: Guess the Newness!

@missjeanie, good guess! I never would have imagined charcoal in a fragrance! I normally associate charcoal with absorbing fragrance rather than emitting it 🙂

Re: Guess the Newness!

@missjeanie you know your fragrance!! Good job on guessing this correctly, color me impressed (or should I say "spray me impressed?") 🙂

Re: Guess the Newness!

@KatieBTThanks!  My first instinct was to say Gucci with bloom in the name, but when I went and looked at my fragrances all grouped together the Clean bottles just jumped out!

Re: Guess the Newness!

Woohoo! 🙌🏼 Nice work @missjeanie! 👏🏼😃

Re: Guess the Newness!

Thanks @itsfi go figure I could get this one figured out and still not be able to tell what I was smelling in last nights mask! lol

Re: Guess the Newness!

Isn’t that always the way @missjeanie?! 😂

Re: Guess the Newness!

@missjeanie You're so good! Simple, yet inviting. The charcoal was chosen to add texture to the bright, sunny fragrance.

Re: Guess the Newness!

@CleanFragrancesI like it!! It was the sustainability that really gave it away!  I went and stood and looked at my fragrances and it just seemed so obvious that it would be one of yours!  I'm looking forward to checking it out!

Re: Guess the Newness!

Congrats on guessing that it was a fragrance, @missjeanie ! I never would've guessed that! I could definitely see Clean being the right answer. Just the name alone fits in with their other products 🙂

Re: Guess the Newness!

Thanks @SpaceLlama !  Combo of lucky guesses and the sustainability clue!

Re: Guess the Newness!

We agree! Outside of the box thinkers 😉

Re: Guess the Newness!

@KatieBT  Is this a brand Sephora already carries? I’ll guess Clean Reserve or Commodity. Hmm, charcoal, coconut, musk, and “a luminous solar note”... sounds interesting.

Re: Guess the Newness!

Great guess, @WinglessOne it's Clean Reserve 🙂

Re: Guess the Newness!

So impressive! Great guess. Let us know what you think after you've given it a spritz.

Re: Guess the Newness!

@KatieBTThis sounds like either Clean or Juliette Has a Gun to me. But JHAG recently did a coconut/sun fragrance with Sunny Side Up and I don't know that JHAG promotes itself on sustainability, so that leaves Clean. There are some other clean/ethical houses like 7 Virtues, but I think these notes would fall outside their aesthetic.

Re: Guess the Newness!

@pocketvenus, of course, you got this right! It's Clean Reserve 🙂
