Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hi girls!

I recently read somewhere to spray perfume on your hair and clothes instead of your skin to avoid any skin irritation/sensitizing ingredients.  Do you agree?  I typically spray perfume on my chest but now concerned that maybe I'm doing damage?

As I get older and skin is more sensitive my priority is taking care of it and avoiding anything that might do damage

.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Ok...I totally agree with the hair and clothes method. I actually love to do this because hair holds scent better than any other part of your body, so you get these delicious wafts of the sillage as you move thoughout your day.

I'm not really worried that you're doing any damage by spraying perfume on the chest. Our scents are all the highest quality EDPs. Ie, we use all phthalate and paraben free ingredients that are good for the world and humans.

The one thing that might happen is you dry out the skin a bit as fragrance is comprised of a mixture of oil and alcohol? That is why we recommend adding fragrance on top of unscented body lotiion if you skew dry.

Lastly, if you are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY sensitive, try Merry Maker! It was originally designed for pregnant women and new moms by a pregnant perfumer and is safe enough for even babies sensitive noses and skin. This is a beautiful scent (my everyday jam) that is designed for the most sensitive users.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hi Erika & Christine,

I was wondering if you have any plans to iexpand your brand. Maybe Include shirts/sweaters that reflect your scents? There will as a pinrose sweater in a recent Sephora perk which was a great hit and it will be fun to have similar things available for purchase as well. Thanks.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

@fatimamummy YES YES YES. We love sweatshirts. And swag. And accessories.

I'm glad you saw the "Clever Devil" sweatshirt in the Bazaar! We are planning to release more of these at the end of the year.

And, we have a few others in the works - like "Secret Genius." Which fragrance name would you like to see on a sweatshirt?

Thank you for beautytalking!!!!!

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Sun Saint, Garden Gangster and Moon light gypsy would make lovely sweatshirts!

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hi Erika and Christine,

I am not terribly familiar with your brand but would love to become a good friend!  I lean towards sweet, vanilla scents -- do you have a fragrance in your lineup you might recommend to me?  Thanks!

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

@shimmerbait We are peas in a shimmery pod 🙂

Our fragrance, Secret Genius, is literally shimmery bait. So delicious and so genius.

I had been looking for the perfect vanilla my entire life. (this is Erika).  I still have the vanilla oil (that I bought in 1994) when they still had oils where you put your own label on it. I was in 4th grade and got made fun of at school for smelling like cake.

Since then, I've been on the hunt for a not-too-cloying, not-too-thick vanilla. We paired up with Harry Fremont (famous perfumer behind Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather) to create the perfect elegant vanilla. He used fair trade vanilla from Madagascar, caramel, and white chocolate notes blended on a sandalwood base.

Try out Secret Genius - I hope you love it as much as I do.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Thanks for joining us!  I really love your fragrances, especially Gilded Fox which, if I'm being completely honest, I was fully prepared to hate.  How do you come up with the fragrance combinations you do?

I love the idea of layering and combining them, was that always your intent when you first started the line?

Do you have any suggestions for finding the right fragrance, especially online since some of us can't get to test your line in person?

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

hahaha @michelleshops I SO know what you mean that you were "prepared to hate it".... been there!

I actually made Gilded Fox originally for my own wedding, which was set in Chicago on Valentine's Day in February. So I wanted something warm and cozy and sexy but also interesting/with depth. Fun fact: it was origianlly called "Lovebug", but then we couldn't get the trademark for the name so it became gilded fox! (I actually wrote an article about crafting the fragrance here)

https://intothegloss.com/2015/04/custom-wedding-fragrance/

SO...this is all a long way of saying, we come up with the fragrances that we want for OUR OWN LIVES. We love unexpected combinations. We identify the perfumers that we know will be best suited for the scents that we are envisioning. For example, we hand picked Patricia Choux to do Sun Saint because she is amazing with the summer blends and is not afraid to use an unexpected coconut wood.

We ALWAYS had layering as something that would be key to our brand. If a fragrance is high quality, it should layer well with others, even if the combination seems like it wouldn't work. Kindof like how prosciutto and cantaloupe works 🙂

As to how to find the right fragrance....get the Pinrose Style Kit so you can try them all for not too much $$! And PLEASE...allow yourself to be fickle with your fragrances (no need for a signature scent. TOO. MUCH. PRESSURE!!!) It's totally ok if you like something for awhile and get sick of it.

Lots of love xo!

I'm reading the article now and your wedding dress is STUNNING!  Thank you for sharing @Pinrose

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hello Erika and Christine,

My favorite Pinrose fragrance is Secret Genius. I would love to have a body lotion in this scent to pair with the perfume.

Is there any chance you might create lotions as an addition to your line?

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hi @angel7594

Sadly we don't yet have plans to make a body lotion....but I'm with you....we should make one!! Here's the deal we can make 🙂 ... as SOON as we make a lotion, we will prioritize making Secret Genius FIRST and let you know as soon as the decision has been made!

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Thank you! ❤️

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hello! Thanks for chatting with us. When coming up with the ideas of your scents, what is one of the combos you tried to make that ended up really just not working out, smelled horrible?

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hey @Samtian!

Hahahhaa. Oh there have been a few duds. So...we work with master perfumers from around the world who are so incredible - they are creative geniuses who are also organic chemists. Lucky perfect right and left brain people....

We love working with them - we create mood boards and music playlists and share these mood boards with the perfumers. If they are inspired by what we've put together, they will create a scent and submit it to us for review.

We tried to create a fragrance that mimicked a high-end Grecian spa - a blend of eucalyptus and warmth and steamy-healthy goodness. Well, all the submissions for this mood board came back smelling like floor cleansing products 😞 And no fragrance could capture that warm steam feeling mixed with the fresh and bright notes.

Great question - working with the perfumers is one of the most fun parts of our job. What kind of fragrance are you dreaming of? Any combos you have in mind?

Huge hugs and high-kicks!

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

I'm dreaming of creme brulee and fig!

Thanks for the story! It gave me a good chuckle.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hi Erika and Christine!

Thank you so much for being here today.

I am very curious about Campfire Rebel and wondering when this will be available on Sephora Canada. I’ve never been good at figuring out scents but know what I like when I smell it :D. I basically want something that smells like cottage country and campfires. Would that be it? Thanks! 🙂

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

O also @veronika23

Have you ever tried Gilded Fox? It is made by the same master perfumer who did Campfire Rebel, David Apel. Gilded Fox also is a wood/gourmand sexy awesome mashup. But instead of campfires and marshmallows, Gilded Fox is an amazing blend of spiked hot cocoa and cedarwood.

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

@Pinrose.  Yes I have! I bought the wardrobe set as soon as Sephora Canada launched it. 😄  Not sure that scent was for me though.  I'll give it another shot but really didn't like how it smelled on me when I first applied it. 😞

Thank you! 🙂

Re: Live Chat with PINROSE

Hey @veronika23! Great question...we also LUUUURVE Campfire Rebel. It wont be on Sephora Canada this year, but we are hoping it's in the queue for 2018!
