Feedback Wanted: Team BIC’s 2024 Holiday Gratis Thread!

Happy Holidays, BIC! 🤍❄ We’re sending select members a token of our appreciation for their participation in the Beauty Insider Community all year round, and this thread is a place for recipients to share their unboxings! 🤗 It warmed our hearts to see how much you loved last year’s epic Community Faves-themed countdown, so this year we’re sticking with a similar format, while putting a new spin on the unboxing festivities…. with 10 Days of Trending Picks from Team BIC!

You may recognize some of these products being buzzed-about on social, or in rotation on our Trending at Sephora page. 🤳🔥 They may not be official Community Favorites just yet, but if you love what you try, you could very well skyrocket them into Sephora.com greatness by tagging them in your Forum posts or future Gallery looks! 🤩 

Similar to last year, recipients will have 10 Sephora products to unveil across 10 days … but you’re welcome to open on your own schedule (we won’t judge)! Though packages may arrive on varying schedules, they should all land before mid-December. While you’re free to begin unboxing your gratis as you wish when you receive it, we are challenging you to post photos and share your thoughts on each of the products according to the schedule below so we can all experience the magic together (starting with the gift labeled “Day 1”)! You can absolutely post product photos and reactions earlier if you like – we might just suggest hiding them behind a spoiler tab to make it easier for other recipients to avoid any unwanted sneak peeks at the surprises in future days ahead!

@greeneyedgirl107 @I don’t think they are doing one. After they ended the Ambassador program back in March they haven’t done any gratis even for the Summer.

This week I tried the Kérastase Chroma Absolu High Shine Gloss Treatment for Color-Treated Hair 7.1 oz/ 210 mL . I used it after my conditioner, which the Kerastase website says is acceptable. I’m glad I did because otherwise I don’t think my hair would have felt very hydrated. I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of this product. I used two doses since my hair is thick and reaches my waist. The smell lingers of the product is strong and unisex, and lingers for several days, which I don’t particularly like. I didn’t notice a huge difference in shine. However, my hair is in good health and not dyed so I might not be the target audience for this product. I’m looking forward to trying the LÓreal laminating product to compare.

@jaaayp I tried the L’Oreal one last night and I think I like that one better. If the scent of the Kerastase is too much for you, try that one.

OH my goodness @makeitup305 I thought the scent was just me. I think I used it 3 times and although it makes my hair super soft... I'm basically holding my breath in the shower for like 5 mins LOL

I've been burning my midi size of the Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' By The Fireplace Scented Candle 5.8 oz/ 165 g before I use the one that was kindly gifted to us. It's such an amazing scent for this time of year. I love both the candle and the perfume.

@PrettyPaint it's a candle warmer from Amazon. It was like $10 and it works ok. It takes a while to warm up bigger candles but I appreciate the auto-shut off feature.

@makeitup305 Oh my goodness. I didn't even realize that there was such a thing. That's pretty neat. I didn't know you could use regular candles without lighting them.

@PrettyPaint you've got two options for that- this one that heats from the bottom or a candle warmer lamp, which uses a bulb to heat up the wax from the top. They sell those at lots of places, including Marshall's, Amazon, and Target. I still haven't bought one but I definitely want one. They're a little more aesthetically appealing than the one I have now. I think those have the same issue where it takes quite a bit to warm up the candle and release scent, but I appreciate that most have timers and I'm not worried about having an open flame.

@makeitup305 Thank you! I'll see if TJ Maxx or Target has anything next time I head out that way. I have quite a few candles sitting around, but I often get nervous about forgetting to blow them out. I'm so glad I saw your post, because I truly had missed out on candle warmer lamps! 🙂

@PrettyPaint I ended up picking up this candle warmer from my Marshalls yesterday for an improved aesthetic. They were all about $20. This one is from the brand Mikasa. It doesn’t have a timer but it has a dimmer switch.

I used the #Dr. Jart+ Cryo Rubber™ Face Mask with Hyaluronic Acid 0.14 oz / 4 g the other day. I thought it was just ok. My skin has been super dry and the so has the weather so I think it just doesn't have enough oomph to get me through the winter. I've tried two similar ones by two other K-beauty brands and feel the same. I think it would be nicer during the summer so you can enjoy the cooling effect more.
