Our favorite holiday at Sephora is quickly approaching on July 29th, National Lipstick Day! *waves hands in the air like a cheerleader in a high school pep rally*
Now if you've been around BIC for at least a few minutes you've probably noticed the Community's healthy obsession with all things lippies. Tom Ford, Bite, Kat Von D, Anastasia, you name it... Glosses! Satins! Toppers! Mattes! I think is fair to agree lipstick can always add that finishing touch and complete your look.
Due to our love of lipstick and this glorious holiday we are starting this thread to celebrate National Lipstick Day!
What's your favorite lipstick? Show it some love in the comments!
Hahaha @Luvstravel,I would have screamed in shock and made my husband deaf 🙂
Congratulations @Luvstravel! What a nice surprise to come home to after a long night of work😊!! Hope you enjoy them!
After seeing all the people getting gratis for National Lipstick Day I was excited for them and pretty jealous. Sephora surprised me with a gratis package for me as well. They were really generous for this event. I found a super cute package with 2 Pat McGrath MatteTrance lipsticks and 2 Sephora Melting Lip Clicks as well. I swear this was meant for me because I adore lippies and have 20, literally, in my purse all the time.
I'm having trouble formatting so I'll put my pictures at the end with captions as they're not embedding in the text properly.
I opened the package 15 minutes before dinner plans. The Pat McGrath lipstick came in the shades Executive Realness and Guinevere. Having seen those shades on others I was thrilled to try them out. I put on Executive Realness and headed out. I was in a rush and forgot to use a lip primer. Executive Realness has a beautiful sharp pink note that looked really good on me. I'm not used to mattes as I don't prefer them. It seemed to be a bit patchy at the beginning but evened out after a couple swipes. It did not transfer on my glass at dinner but also did not survive the thai food. No worries, I don't mind reapplying and i would usually use primer. I was interested to try the formula as I have only tried one matte bullet and hated it. The Pat McGrath lipsticks felt smooth on my lips and non-drying. I'm impressed!
After I got home I put on Guinevere and loved the deep red. It's more oxblood and I don't have that shade in my collection so I'm happy to add it. Also very smooth on the lips. This went on a little more evenly than Executive Realness.
I couldn't wait until tomorrow so I used Clinique's Take the Day Off makeup remover and took off Guinevere. I really cleaned my lips to take off everything. On to the Sephora Melting Lip Clicks.
These are a really interesting balm. You click a button on the packaging to bring up the product. It's a soft, emollient balm that melts into your lips right away and gives you a wash of color. They have a faint sweet, maybe vanilla scent. I wasn't sure what to expect. I liked the feel of it on my lips. It's a subtle wash of color. I liked Cotton Candy which was a pretty pink but wasn't excited for Creme Brulee as the packaging was brown and I prefer a pinkish brown for my nudes. Not to worry, since the color is subtle it wasn't hitting you in the face brown. I found I liked it. Lips felt nourished and soft. I had a few cookies as a snack and the melting lip click was pretty much gone. Pretty but not much longevity.
Overall, very impressed. I will try to update tomorrow with more notes as I'll wear Guinevere and the melting lip clicks more tomorrow with a primer. I would definitely invest in another shade of the Pat McGrath lipstick. I think the melting lip clicks will be really good for days when I want my lips to feel good but don't want a super bold color.
Sorry this is so long guys. Hopefully the detailed review helps someone make a decision. I am very grateful Sephora chose to provide these products to me and get my input.Yay for gratis!

**Update** I wore Guinevere today with the MAC lip primer. It's the darkest color I've worn so I was a little nervous about getting good lines. It definitely did transfer onto my coffee cup but held up well to a light breakfast. After drinking from a can of pop I still had a lot of color left before lunch. The lipstick didn't make it through lunch but I didn't expect it to. I will say this is probably worn best with a lip liner as it did bleed and smeared a bit after breakfast. I reapplied after lunch but an afternoon snack had it wear unevenly. I was definitely impressed by Pat McGrath lipsticks, but would give them a 4 out of 5 due to bleeding and wearing a little unevenly. I would totally buy another shade of this product.
I tried the Sephora Melting Lip Click in Cotton Candy today. I noticed a scent when I put it on last night and it was a bit too sweet to me today. I love the way this feels on my lips, smooth and yes, it melts into your lips in a refreshing way. Last night it did not hold up through food but I had a few hours of wear with it today. I'd probably give these a 3.5 out of 5 because of the sickly sweet scent. Sorry Sephora, I want to be honest with my feedback.
Thanks again Pat McGrath, Sephora and @KatieBT
Al four shades look stunning on you @sprocketta!
Congrats, @sprocketta! Thanks for the quick reviews!
Congratulations, @sprocketta!
I'm so happy for you that you were included in this terrific Gratis! Yay! 🙂
Thank you for the photos and the swatches, and your comments!
Thanks @tsavoriteUnidentified
I wanted to post a lot of info since Sephora was kind enough to include me. Hopefully they'll notice the feedback.
Thanks @Kim888Unidentified
They chose great colors for me!
WOW @sprocketta,I really love Pat Mcgraths Executive Realness and Sephora Creme Brulee on you!! Uo-oh, this is going to be the second color I want from Pat MCgrath, thanks for the review!! 🙂
Thanks @Buootiful
I saw other people wearing Executive Realness and hoped for it as i opened my package. Glad I could give some feedback.
Congratulations @sprocketta. They look so pretty on you!
Thanks @PrettyPaint I'm really impressed with both of these products.
Congratulations, @sprocketta! They look gorgeous on you!
Love Guinevere on you, @sprocketta! And I couldn’t decide between the 2 Sephora lippies, so they both win:)
@eshoe I really like Guinevere. It's a beautiful color. I get nervous wearing really dark lipstick because I'm afraid to smear it and not sure I can pull off that color. But I'm working it!
