Medical Professionals

Calling upon nurses, CNA's, doctors, PA's, OR/ER personnel, etc. I would love input from all of you on your favorite skin care and cosmetics, specifically the best anti-stress and long wear products. What are the best products that get you through a 12-hour shift? What makeup do you find best survives a day of sweat, PPE/masks, and everything we deal with daily in our profession. THANKS!

I wear Urban Decay pencil eyeliner, I have every color, goes on smooth and after it sets it is smudge proof. Lash strips by Ardell #120. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks last all day, I have 10 colors,(building my collection) smudge proof unless you eat something oily, only then you need to touch up the inner rim of lip. They won't budge. Before applying, apply a very, very thin layer of Aquaphor and you are good to go!!!

I am a med tech (the nurses bring the patient specimens to us, and we test them on site). Most people I know don't wear any at all but I do when I have the time. I wear foundation and a liquid lipstick. And eyeliner. I don't usually have time to add highlighter or blush..

Re: Medical Professionals

I'm on an ICU step down unit that has been lovingly dubbed "the armpit of the hospital" so I get a little sweaty/greasy due to the high turnover and general busy-ness. I've been using Estee Lauder Double Wear for a long time but I've recently become more oily in my T-zone. I use the Becca Evermatte primer just on my forehead and bake the T-zone (using a damp sponge) with Bare Mineral Mineral Veil powder. The Mineral Veil powder creates a really blurred out, pore minimized look that surprisingly lasts the ~13hr shifts. It does give a sort of pink cast so I correct that with Hourglass Dim Light.

Re: Medical Professionals

I work in a busy ER and I have to admit that I don't really wear much makeup at work because it usually doesn't hold up to the test of time, but if I do decide to wear lipstick I choose a matte formula. In fond of the sephora or still brand cream lipstain liquid lipsticks.  They tend to last up to 10 hours without requiring a reapplication (if you don't eat oily foods)

RE: Medical Professionals

Surgical nurse. I am constantly putting on and taking off masks in a climate-controlled environment that is great for sterility and terrible for my skin. We wear ugly hats and unisex hospital-issued scrubs, so I am constantly trying to find a way to distinguish myself from the crowd or "OR blue) enshrouded herd of professionals. ------ I wear lash extensions because they require very little fuss so I can at least pretend that I actually sleep.---- I love a great sheet mask (My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic)**antioxidant and anti aging serums (TNS Essential Serum, Cosmetic Skin Solutions Ferulic)** mattifying gel (Mehron Touch Up),** try to keep my lips naturally (haha) moist, plump, and rosy (Fresh lip scrub, Amore Pacific lip goo, Laneige lip sleeping mask). _______I have mostly given up on color cosmetics because I feel gross ripping off masks smeared with my temporary complexion.

RE: Medical Professionals

I'm an RN who works in a very busy hospital. I sweat a lot working in code situations so by the end of my shift, I usually have wiped my face several times with paper towels or something! I use Lancôme teint idole foundation for my combo skin. It's the best I have found so far. Tarte Amazonian clay blush. I've yet to find a blush to last my entire 12-16 hour shifts but this has been the best for me so far. Lips--I've given up on--I just use a light color that I reapply. I use a waterproof mascara to keep it from smudging--right now it's a sample of Urban Decay. Works well. Oh! And I use Urban Decay eyeliner since they don't smudge either. Good luck! And bring blotting papers, too.

RE: Medical Professionals

My hospital days are ~10-14 hrs typically, in a humid climate, and I have combo skin. I can mix and match some things depending on how much time I have in the morning, but typically the following are my HG for long lasting looks: DE c-firma and B-Hydra for skincare, SPF (either EltaMD or Glossier invisible shield) followed by Becca velvet primer or Hourglass mineral veil, Bobbi Brown stick foundation or The Ordinary coverage foundation, concealer - always set with powder, Kat von D blotting powder to set, Bronzer, Bobbi Brown blush, Becca moonstone highlight, Glossier boy brow, mascara (I run a waterproof one over a regular one to prevent smudges throughout the day), and set with setting spray (either UD all nighter or CoverFX Mattifying).

Re: Medical Professionals

Hi! 🙂

I am a registered nurse who works 12-16 hour shifts in a hospital with no air conditioning, and for my routine I swear by: It Cosmetics "Feel the moment" anti-aging primer serum (the one that smells like a spa - eucalyptus maybe? when you apply it and inhale), Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (applied with a damp beauty blender), Benefit Boing concealer, Kat Von D powder foundation dusted over as just powder, Elizabeth Arden cream blush (also applied with a seperate, damp beauty blender- I sometimes also top it with MAC Pro Longwear blush, and I have lash extentions and tint my eyebrows so I don't need to worry about eye makeup 🙂 I finish off with Urban Decay "All Nighter" setting spray. Mind you, I won't look *flawless* come hour 16 (I truly don't think that's possible for health care professionals after a grueling 16 hour work day!), but this is the best combination of products I've tried for long wear! There are definitely other products that you may like more than what I use for long wear 🙂
