is your drunk elephant good for children

Drunk elephant is not the best option for a young child but I do know some good choices like the evereden moisturizer and evereden overall is better for young kids they have thing made for kids and babys also lanaige is good for the lip products super group spf is also a very good option for children and so is sol de janeiro they have mainly scents and then won't hurt the skin and glow recipe Is also a good option it has manly all natural ingredients in it so that's a good choice ๐Ÿ‘

Re: is your drunk elephant good for children

As a Liscensed Esthetician I agree Evereden is a great option. I use it on my 6 year old as well.

Re: drunk elephant

Many parents are having the same problem with their preteen/teen daughters wanting to use products such as Drunk Elephant due to social media. My 9 year old has been asking me to get her DE skincare. She saw it on Tik Tok. Then she noticed that I had some of their products as well. She also is very much into Laneige, mainly their lip products (sheโ€™s collecting all the scents of the sleeping masks and the glowy balms) and I just got her their sunscreen as well. I donโ€™t have a problem with that, but when it comes to DE I did explain to her that itโ€™s skincare with active ingredients which is anti-aging and not for her skin and if children use this, it will cause damage to their skin long term. Tried to explain to her how social media isnโ€™t reality and that the creators just put whatever into their videos to get the most views even if itโ€™s untrue and wrong. We watched some video on YouTube together and a little 6 year old girl applied mask after mask after mask and the last one was a gold anti aging face mask with collagenโ€ฆ. I was speechless. I mean you canโ€™t even compare masks if youโ€™re going to use them all on the same day one after an other overloading her young baby skin. Never mind thatโ€ฆ but when she put that anti aging face mask on,  it blew my mind that a parent would allow this to be posted for thousands of other little girls to watch and be deceived and seen as a norm for skincare for young girls. So, I sat there with my daughter and explained to her step by step why that is ludicrous and not to listen to other children for skincare advice and she understood. She does truly listen to me for skin care advice and sheโ€™s very cute about her little routine and Iโ€™m proud of her for doing it AM/ PM. As for her cleanser and moisturizer, she had used EverEden for years now (before I ever saw it sold at Sephora) and sheโ€™s still using it and her skin is always perfect. If I ever do get her DE products if will be the purple whipped moisturizer and the b-hydra serum is okay too. Products with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and ceramides are okay because theyโ€™re found naturally in the skin. There is really great apps now to check ingredients of skincare .. you just use your camera to scan the ingredients list on a package and it will break down every single ingredient for you and explain what it is .. if ever in doubt. ๐Ÿ™‚ best of luck to you! I hope you and your daughter make a choice you both can agree on and are happy with !

Re: drunk elephant

Yes do not use drunk elephant!!! Every product has anti aging stuff in it!! Avoid drunk elephant Sephora pre teens, teenagers!!!!!!!!

Re: drunk elephant

I think there are definitely some products she can use but others to avoid. Watch out for ones with retinal, it's anti aging and kids don't really get wrinkles too often!

Re: drunk elephant

all the skincare that a 12 year old needs is a quality sunscreen, gentle cleanser, and a basic facial moisturizer. these are products that can be found at stores like walmart or a local drugstore. drunk elephant is a line of expensive products full of things that will not be providing any more benefit to a childโ€™s skin than anything else. CeraVe hydrating cleanser is very gentle and affordable. if you are to purchase anything for your child from sephora, please supervise them to make sure they are not damaging any of the tester products or opening any packages since this is something iโ€™ve seen kids doing. this way you can also make sure you are purchasing products that are safe for childrenโ€™s skin. please avoid anything with retinol, AHA + BHA, or any other chemical exfoliants as it can harm their skin barrier. the Ordinary is an affordable brand, but stear clear of anything other than the Nautral Moisturizing factors + HA and the Squalene cleanser as their other products can be quite harsh on younger skin.

Re: drunk elephant

No! Drunk Elephant is not safe for children.

Re: drunk elephant

@milavalentinee What is it about every product across the brand that you think is unsafe for tween skin?  I can't see any reason why some of their products would be bad?  I would never suggest Babyfacial or TLC Framboos but they do have other products that are nourishing that I would absolutely let someone of that age use.  Their Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm 0.13 oz/ 3.8 g  , Drunk Elephant Cocominoโ„ข Glossing Shampoo Drunk Elephant Cocominoโ„ข Marula Cream Conditioner , Drunk Elephant B-Hydraโ„ข Intensive Hydration Serum with Hyaluronic Acid 1.69 oz/ 50 mL   Drunk Elephant Lala Retroโ„ข Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer  ... I can't find anything wrong with these for example.

Re: drunk elephant

My reply was a generalization. Because in theory, yes, DE is not safe for children. Obviously, a kid can use a lip balm, basic moisturizer, or shampoo/conditioner without issues (most times). As a whole, DE products are filled with acids, retinols, and exfoliants, something a kid shouldn't be using. The target audience is not and was never children. Many of DE's products are to target "anti-aging" remedies and damaged skin, something kids should not be worrying about and have no reason to be using... at all.

Re: drunk elephant

@beauty1nsider51 I don't know that I'd necessarily spend Drunk Elephant prices on a 12 year old, at least not without knowing I like their products if a 12 year old was inconsistent in application and I needed to use them up.  That said, if it's within your budget, there are a lot of DE products I would let a 12 year old use.  I don't really think they're marketed specifically to kids, but I'm sure if you'll find lots of kids using them.  Springing to mind, their cleansers would likely be okay for younger consumers.  Be sure to read the instructions if you purchase the bar cleansers and tell your mini how to use them.  Their shampoo and conditioner, as well as Sili body lotion and Kamili Cleansers should be fine.  Same with the B Hydra and and their moisturisers. I'm personally not a fan of their SPF, but if she's into it, it's pretty gentle.  I think the big thing, is just to make sure you're reading up on whichever products she wants.  DE has some great gentle products that would work great for kids, and some harsher products that I wouldn't put on someone so young.

Re: drunk elephant

is there any other brands that you would recommend?

Re: drunk elephant

The ordinary

Re: drunk elephant

@beauty1nsider51 I would start someone out with Cerave, or Cetaphil to be honest.  For someone looking to start a skincare routine, I'd also start with very few products.  A gentle cleanser, and SPF (40+) during day with a cleanser and moisturizer at night.   As she proves successful with maintaining that, she may want to learn more about skincare and venture into other brands.  I know Cerave or Cetaphil aren't really seen as 'fun' brands, but they're a low dollar commitment to seeing if she's really ready to keep up a routine.
