Damaged items in Play! Box

Who has received a damaged item in their Play! Box before? What was Sephora’s response?

I received my box yesterday. I went to open the Sephora Collection lipstick and it fell on to my dog-fur covered kitchen floor. I called CS yesterday but the box had not been “shipped” in their system, so I was told to wait and call back once I get the tracking. Today, I received my tracking email and sure enough, my box was marked as delivered yesterday. I called back but the rep informed me that the box was out of stock and they can’t ship another sample, so she offered 150pts to my account.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of points at Sephora as the 100pt perks (which I do realize are the same as what is included in Play!) are usually worth $2-5 (in terms of product amount). There is RARELY anything I want, I’m not a fan of the 500pt rewards, and the FEW times I have been interested in a 1000+pt reward, it sells out in minutes. I would have much rather a discount toward a future box, or some sort of “credit” for the value of the item. I know it’s silly, but it was disappointing to receive a damaged item and feel as though there wasn’t much to be done. 

I would appreciate if there was another option other than being granted points to try and spend on an item, and instead something more proactive by the Sephora team (although it is only a $10/month box).

Seems this happened to a whole lot of us. Was there a manufacturing problem somewhere?

Mine did that too. So disappointing, that lipstick is such a pretty color.

I think this is the first time I’ve received a damaged item in my box, and while I was disappointed, Sephora followed up with my post and I really appreciate their efforts. If you haven’t yet, try reaching out at least once!

Did you email them or call? Not sure the best way to contact them. This is th first time I have ever received a damaged item.
