Best Primer?

What Are The Best Primers For Men?

Re: Best Primer?

So on average men are usually more oily prone (our sebaceous glands & skin are a bit different than womyn), and we have facial hair (most men- on average) so those factors need to be taken into consideration.
Primers now have moved on to simply helping make up stay longer to being individualized for folks with more specific and varied needs. This means you can have a primer to target hyperpigmentation or excessive oiliness. You can even multi-prime // target prime, and treat specific areas with different needs.

If you are looking for a primer that helps control shine and keep you matte, the Becca one is great for VERY oily skin. I find it too strong for folks with just mild oiliness. The MUFE Step 1 Mattifying Primer is the general one that I use on clients who are oily but not too much. Most Mattifying primer must be warmed up with your fingers before application, and then patted into the skin. Otherwise, they can break off your foundation and cause it to look patchy.

One of my favorite all-around primers is the Stila 3 step one. It is supposed to color correct and brighten, which I don't feel it does all that great, but it is one of my favorites because it holds the makeup well throughout the day and doesn't add any texture. Another is the Urban Decay, Self-adjusting primer. It's great to neutralize the skin without adding the layer of makeup that using a green color corrector would. Some clients can use this alone instead of adding foundation on top.

Primers are often heavy in dimethicone, which is not a necessarily bad ingredient, but on oily skin can cause the foundation to slip and slide. My best recommendation would be to go in-store and try a bunch out! get some samples and see what works best for you 🙂

Re: Best Primer?

I've got combo skin and use Cover FX Mattifying primer w/ Acne treatment. Works really well in small amounts and would recommend this primer to anyone with oily/combination skin.

RE: Best Primer?

I find that guys have dry skin so try a hydrating primer but if you feel like you get to oily try the becca Evermatte primer or the pores no more by dr.brandt
