light weight coverage for a newbie

I am a blank makeup slate.  I don’t wear makeup except eyeliner and mascara because I don’t like the way makeup feels on my skin and because I workout on my lunch hour at work and don’t really have time to take off makeup and then reapply it after my workout.  However, now that winter is here, I am noticing that I look tired.  My skin is pale and blotchy and I’d like to start wearing a little makeup on my face.  Considering that I have dry/combination skin, and that I have no experience or tools, what would you recommend for lightweight coverage that will both even out my skin tone and brighten my face so I don’t look so tired and old – ha! I know that’s asking a lot!  I just don’t even know where to start.  Help!

I like Tarte's BB cream.. with the 30 SPF, it's lightweight and stays put.  Can't even feel you're wearing it..

@Anonymous a BB cream or tinted moisturizer might be the way to go! Dr. Jart has some great ones! A lot of people like their beauty balm but I have dry skin as well and it always makes my face feel really tight so I prefer the dis a por version. I also really like the Nars Tinted moisturizer (this can run a little yellow if you are cool toned thoug)

Thanks! How do I know if I am cool toned? I would say I am white with pink and red blotches!  Ha!
