What is powder used for?

Hey All,

I just started really learning about makeup when I joined BIC in February! I know rare beauty is releasing a pressed powder but Iโ€™ve never used powder and I would love to gather some ideas or where itโ€™s used, I know this might seem like a silly question but fairly new to makeup โค๏ธ

Re: What is powder used for?

@peculiarzmakeup Great question!  It can be tricky because there are so many kinds of powders on the market.  I typically use setting powders under my eyes and in my t-zone.  It can help keep my makeup from creasing, control the dewiness if I've been too heavy handed with a cream product, and keeps makeup in place.  Some that I've tried and have been satisfied with are Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Always an Optimist Soft Radiance Setting Powder   Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Longwear Setting Powder  and Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Refillable Setting Powder  .  BIC is a very welcoming and helpful community.  Feel free to ask any questions you have ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Re: What is powder used for?

This is a great question and a good place to ask. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I love my fishing powders @peculiarzmakeup. After I put my makeup on it kinda blurs everything a bit and sets everything in place.

I'm experimenting using powder after I put my sunscreen on, to kinda help my skin look and feel less spf-y lol.

Re: What is powder used for?

Thatโ€™s a great goal @CynthieLu I appreciate all the feedback about powder excited to try! And yes anything to make sunscreen feel spfy!! ๐Ÿซถ

Re: What is powder used for?

Daytime SPF with makeup is a struggle, I hope I can figure out more tricks to make it easier. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@peculiarzmakeup

Do you think you have got a better feel for powder now? There's been a lot of great info shared here. ๐Ÿ“œ  ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ

Re: What is powder used for?

Yes I definatley do, I appreciate all the helpful tips @CynthieLu  ๐Ÿ’•

Re: What is powder used for?

@peculiarzmakeup I used loose powder to set my t-zone and under eyes after concealer. I used a pressed powder like Charlotte Tilbury Mini Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder 2 Medium  to set the rest of my face prior to settting spray. If you get the Rare Beauty one I would love to hear your thoughts!

Re: What is powder used for?

Thank you so much @Mellmars1185  I learn so much on BIC I love CT! I love everyoneโ€™s unique way of doing their powder ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: What is powder used for?

@peculiarzmakeup You are welcome ๐Ÿ˜Š. I forgot to mention the tools I use. For the loose powder I like to use triangle puff. For setting powder I use a dome shaped brush to pin point where I would like the product. Sometimes I use it to tone down blush if I go too heavy.

Re: What is powder used for?

Youโ€™re one step ahead I totally forgot to ask that. Thank you! Ooo this is so exciting ๐Ÿซถ @Mellmars1185

Re: What is powder used for?

Hi, @peculiarzmakeup !  I prefer using a loose powder.  I use it after applying my foundation to set my foundation and to help keep it looking matte.  I also use powder under my eyes to set my concealer.  I do have a couple of pressed powders, but I just find them too dense for my liking.  It's all personal preference. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: What is powder used for?

Thank you so much! Haha I didnโ€™t know there was loose powder or pressed powder I thought there was just powder Iโ€™m learning so much I appreciate the tips! @Titian06

Re: What is powder used for?

@peculiarzmakeup @I use it to set under my eyes and also to prevent my foundation from moving.

Re: What is powder used for?

Thank you, Iโ€™m looking forward to trying it @SportyGirly125
