The One Palette Challenge

Palette Challenge Photo_Katie and Brenda holding eye palettes showing swatches.jpg

Who convinces themselves they need every palette out there… Especially when it’s versatile and can be used for both neutral and va-va-VOOM glamazon looks? *raises hand*

Who also has a tendency of buying a new palette, consistently using it for two weeks, and getting distracted by another product, abandoning their new friend OR just gets lazy with their eyeshadow game? *aggressively waves both hands in the air* *starts jumping up and down while waving*

If you can identify with any of the above, we have a challenge for you! We challenge you to dig into your beauty stash and pick out one palette that is extremely versatile. The goal is to use it daily or simply on the days your wear makeup… Up to you and your lifestyle! What we want to see are the different types of looks you can create or descriptions of the looks if you’re short on time or cannot find the right lighting. (A recurring dilemma in my life!)

The looks can be simple or intricate, how you play is up to you! Be sure to leave a comment to share the palette you’re focusing on. As far as updates, please track your progress throughout the week as many times are you're able to. We will try to devote ourselves to one palette for one and, if we aren’t having commitment issues, we can keep the challenge going!

I am going to be using my new obsession, the PAT MCGRATH LABS - Eye Ecstasy™ Eyeshadow & Mascara Kit. The six-pan palette in this kit offers everyday neutral shades, a range of light and dark shimmers, and the kit comes with a gorgeous crystalline pigment for a pop of glam. @BrendaBT will use the beautiful NATASHA DENONA - Biba All Neutral Eyeshadow Palette, @LexBT will be using CHARLOTTE TILBURY - The Icon Eyeshadow Palette, and @RebeccaBT will be trying the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Metallic Pigment Palette.

Will you join us on this challenge? Which palette will you pick?!

P.S. If you end up hitting pan on your palette don't forget to share your progress on the ever-popular Pan It! Challenge lead by the lovely @ElleElleG here: https://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Confidential/Pan-It-2019-Challenge/m-p/4347876

Re: The One Palette Challenge

Thank you, @tastelikewater!  Your real swatches vs. professional swatches tell me so much more.  Enjoy your new palette!

Re: The One Palette Challenge

@itscarin Good job on your nine days! Would love to see your looks with the new palette you picked up!

Best,

Rebecca

Re: The One Palette Challenge

@RebeccaBT I picked up the CT smoky eye look in a palette.  I'm afraid I'm not ready to go full on raccoon eye for my day time job yet, so there's really just one look I do with this palette: Brown in the crease and black to smudge out my cat eye.

The next challenge should be a Marie Kondo challenge, where you have to use everything that hasn't been touched in 6 months or more, or throw it out!  LOL

Re: The One Palette Challenge

@itscarin What a great idea!! I love that 🙂

Best,
Rebecca

RE: The One Palette Challenge

Today was a quick 1 minute eye look day but I succeeded to stick to the MR palette. Golden Ochre on the lids and warm taupe on crease..

Re: I'm loving these looks! @ fatimamummy

Thank you @lmaster  I’m not really good to come up with any creative looks. Also when I look into the mirror it seems like I’m wearing enough colour but in pictures my makeup often doesn’t show 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: I'm loving these looks! @ fatimamummy

@fatimamummy 😂 I feel like I'm the opposite,,I do my makeup and feel like it's fine then go outside or take a pic 🤦 dooooee!  It's so much darker than I thought

Re: The One Palette Challenge

Let's just go ahead and rename this the modern Renaissance challenge thread.😂 I used a tempra substitute because it's already been panned, the light orange transition, realgar, and then bottom row  middle red.  IMG_20190418_091106744.jpg

Re: The One Palette Challenge

So right @itscarin  This palette deserves to have a challenge of its own. I’m looking forward to see all the looks you create with it.

Re: The One Palette Challenge

@itscarin dang maybe we need a separate challenge for modern renaissance... that is my go-to daily palette, travel palette, glam palette... you name it!

I love this look. Teach us your cut crease cat eye ways! Did you use concealer to achieve this precision?

Re: The One Palette Challenge

@KatieBT I did use concealer to cut the crease although i normally don't. I'm a bit rusty on the technique since I haven't done it in a while so I had to cheat and use concealer. If you can get it right, it's actually quicker to not use concealer. Also, I just keep hearing my HS art teacher telling me you'll never get anything as white going back over something with an eraser as you would by leaving negative space. 😂 For the purposes of makeup I don't think that's true, but that's what's driven my concealer-free technique.
