New To Makeup: HELPPPPP

I've just started my journey to wanting to get into makeup! I'm very excited but I'm also a little lost on how to get started. What are the best products to use for beginners? And also, how long did it take for you to be great with applying makeup?

RE: New To Makeup: HELPPPPP

Welcome to the club!!! Makeup is so much fun and a great way to express yourself. I divide makeup into two parts: skincare and (brace yourself) makeup. If you know what your skin is like, you can then move on to figure out the best makeup for you. Also, without great skincare you don't have a great canvas...so always start there! You look like you have beautiful skin though so yay! That part should be easy! As far as methods for applying makeup, what order to do things in, reviews, etc...I go to YouTube for almost everything. Some of my fav YouTubers are Tati, Laura Lee, Jeffree Star, Jordan Byers, and Nikki's Tutorials. One thing I love about the first two is they review a lot of "luxury" (aka Sephora level brands) as well as drug store brands. There are so many affordable dupes out there, but sometimes the splurge is worth it! Lastly, don't be afraid to go into a Sephora store and ask for help. Ask if they can show you how to apply stuff, what color or product they recommend, and ask for samples! It's always better to sample if you can and you're on the fence so you don't return a whole bottle which can't be sold later on. Can't wait to see you post looks in your gallery!

Everyone starts somewhere, just know that there's no set rules for makeup and if you feel confident in your look than thats all that matters. The easiest way to start doing the basics would be to start off natural but you honestly don't have to by any means. The first thing I'd advice you to do is get a foundation that matches your skin color and needs. Sephora workers help alot with this but make sure that you get some samples of different formulas and colors before you settle on your first high end one. In order to start doing eye looks, you can honestly find good eyeshadows at the drugstore (id recommend starting there in order to learn what colors and textures you like best). If you want an all in one basic palette however, I'd recommend the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette. You can find perfectly good mascaras at the drugstore as well, same with pressed powders. And then in order to put it all on I'd recommend 4 tools at least: a fluffy eyeshadow brush for blending, a flat eyeshadow brush for packing on, a powder brush, and a beauty blender or the real technics sponge for super smooth blending. Youtube has lots of great starter tips, but so does any sephora employee if you go in and ask for help.

My number one recommendation for you is to buy good brushes. It doesnt matter so much about what makeup u buy, what matters most is the qualityof brushes you get. Even if you get really high end makeup , it will not look good unless you have a good applicator. Beauty blenders are definitely a must have! It you are looking to buy brushes in sets i would look on morphe.com they have great brushes for an amazing price. Real Techniques also has amazing brushes for a great price. U can get them at ulta or walmart. If you want high end brushes, the Sephora Probrushes are stunning! Make sure you clean your brushes frequently to get the best use out of them!
