Makeup Pilling

Hey so recently, whenever I put on concealer, my under eyes crease so bad and my acne dots really pill. I was wondering why because I use moisturizer and I feel like my skin is super prepped but I have no idea what else to do. My concealer is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Medium Coverage  or the #Elf Concealer. It creases for both. Any other recommendations??? Thank you so so much!!

Re: Makeup Pilling

Concealer creasing under the eyes and accentuating acne can be frustrating😠, but there are several strategies you can try to improve the application and appearance. Here are some tips that might help:

Under-Eye Concealer Creasing

  1. Hydration: While you mentioned using moisturizer, ensure it's suitable for your skin type and adequately hydrating. Consider using a lightweight eye cream specifically formulated for the delicate under-eye area.

  2. Primer: Applying an eye primer or a lightweight face primer can help create a smooth base and extend the wear of your concealer.

  3. Application Technique: Use a small amount of concealer and build up coverage gradually. Pat the product in with your ring finger or a damp makeup sponge for a more seamless blend.

  4. Setting Powder: Lightly set the concealer with a translucent setting powder using a small, fluffy brush. Avoid using too much powder, as it can emphasize fine lines.

  5. Formula Choice: Opt for a lightweight, hydrating concealer formula. Matte or heavy formulas can be more prone to creasing.

    Additional Tips

    • Exfoliation: Regular, gentle exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and create a smoother surface for makeup application.
    • Skincare Routine: Ensure your skincare routine is tailored to your skin type and concerns, as well-prepped skin can significantly improve makeup application.
    • Professional Advice: If you're still experiencing issues, consider consulting a dermatologist or makeup professional for personalized advice. They can help you choose products that work best for your skin type and concerns.

Thank you so much!!! I will try all of this out! This is so helpful thank you:)

Re: Makeup Pilling

@milanaP3 your concealer might not be meshing well with your moisturizer. Try applying it without the moisturizer and see what happens and if it still pills. If not, then you might have to switch your moisturizer. As an application tip, put concealer on the back of your hand and warm it up with your finger. Then swirl your brush or sponge in it, dab some off, and apply using dabbing motions, don't swipe. Both the Nars and the Elf are pretty thick and on the drier side, so they might be looking a little heavy under your eyes and on your texture. However, just remember that texture and creasing is normal.

Thank you so much! I’ve never thought of that so I’ll definitely try it out! Thank you so much:)
