Foundation recommendation?

For the past two years I’ve been using tarte cloud BB cream and either using it by itself sometimes mixing with creamy shape tape for more coverage or if I’m looking paler during winter. I like it because it doesn’t cling to dry spots, sits well over my oil free moisturizer, and looks natural while smoothing out my skintone and not clinging to any dry spots on my face + being lightweight enough to not be obvious. I really like the dior contour sticks and it’s made me curious about their foundation sticks and in the past I have gotten both more expensive foundations and drugstore that didn’t work for me with and without primer + moisturizer. I wasn’t a fan of like born this way by too faced, fit me maybelline, loreal infallible, or urban decay stay all day. Some of the issue may be in the past using foundations that are far too matte? They tend to blow out my pores and look extremely cakey even after all the steps needed + application with damp beauty blender. I have been nervous to dip my toes back in to try another foundation as I hate wasting money on a product that doesn’t work but at the same time I seem to blow through tarte cloud very quickly so it may be worth trying and hearing what others think.

@kadenism, what kind of coverage are you looking for? Also, are you combo oily or combo dry? I'm combo oily, so what I prefer might differ.

I would honestly say had to a store if possible, with swatches of the tarte BB cream so your already matched.  Request sample foundations from brands you like to that shade or see if they recommend something similar.

Thank you for the advice! I had no idea about the sephora tryon packs and voucher My skin type is also oily combo with dry patches, big pores/acne scarring, uneven skintone (red patches)…I’m looking for something medium coverage, not too heavy not too light or if heavier something that can be heavily blended/diluted!

@kadenism, you can either get something like a tint and then conceal or get a primer that's silicone based, so that it kind of sits on top of your pores .  The former is a little more time consuming, but still works.  I left out DIOR Backstage Concealer and DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation .  The reason is because the later I haven't tried the newer formula, the previous version was my HG.  It's a very liquidy foundation, but great for building up coverage.

Color correcting also helps with and scaring.
