Cover FX Custom Color Drops - is this normal?

I've never used these before but have swatched in store. I received my order today and it has a much thicker consistency than I was expecting. Almost like pudding. The ones I've tried in store have seemed more liquid but maybe that's because they have gotten more use and are mixed better? Also the packaging is VERY messy and leaves a lot of product caked around the opening. I had heard about this but thought they had changed the packaging a while back? I am wondering if maybe I got an old bottle or a bad batch. Or is this normal for this product? I'm on the fence about returning until I know more.

@DuchessV I had the same problem with them when I was using them.  Because of the consistency I ended up going through bottles super quickly.  It didn't matter what method I used to apply it just was not giving me the coverage they said it would in the number of drops stated.  I didn't have the issues with mess around the lid though.  It's disappointing to hear there's still this problem going on.  I loved the color match with them and it was so much easier for travel.

I think it's going to be a return for me 😞 it doesn't come out as drops at all... it comes out of the dropper in big sticky globs and it's impossible to get any precision with it. Which is important due to the heavy pigment... less is more and I can't get less to come out. It's such as shame because I LOVE the highlighter drops and was expecting the same level of quality from these.
