Beauty Blender Lifespan

Hi everyone!

Was wondering how long you keep your beauty blender before replacing it? I am trying to prevent mold and keep my skin healthy.  I wash it everyday and after only a couple weeks, the pink color has faded a ton and the shape has changed slightly.   Hoping this is normal.  🎀

While we are here...let me know the life span of your other makeup items (mascara, eyeliner, foundation, etc.)

🎇🎉😍😁

Thanks!

Re: Beauty Blender Lifespan

The Beauty Blender brand recommends replacing the Beauty Blender every three months from what I saw on the display, but since I don't use mine every single day I keep it for a little longer. I wash mine before and after use and check for mold diligently so I'm comfortable doing that, but if you're using it everyday, 3 months sounds like a good amount of time.

The pink colour fading is normal. The sponge is dyed pink so with the combination of makeup, the oils on your skin, and soap, the colour is bound to fade, but that shouldn't affect the use of your sponge. The shape changing is also normal since you're squeezing it and bouncing it on your face. I'd throw it out if the application starts to change the way your makeup looks though!

As for the lifespan of other items, there is typically an indicator on those items that lets you know the recommended lifespan if you're one to follow the rules...lol.

Typically mascara should be replaced the most often since you're constantly pumping air into it every application then putting that wand near your eye. Liquid foundation I'd throw out once it looks like it's separating or changing colour. Powder products have a much longer shelf life so I rarely throw those out unless they start to look weird.

Re: Beauty Blender Lifespan

Thank you, that really helps! I tend to not pay attention to how long I have had a product. I feel like I need to add a sticker when I begin using a new item with the date so I can keep track of them lol

These are great tips though!

Re: Beauty Blender Lifespan

@lilypad235 I replace my beauty blenders about every 3 months. I usually wait for them to start falling apart on top. I also wash mine often so maybe that’s why they don’t last too long? I would love to see others’ input though. This is a great question!

Re: Beauty Blender Lifespan

Thank you! I do try to be vigilante in washing it after each use. For some reason, I heard they should be replaced monthly, but did the math and realized how much I would be spending on BB's in a year if I did that lol

So glad to have others input on this.
