Applying makeup

Hi! I feel like I have a decent skincare routine but every time I apply my foundation I’m not %100 satisfied by it. It just doesn’t look perfect when you look close in the mirror. I don’t know if I should use a different primer or change my skincare routine for it my foundation will apply better than just separating. I use lady gagas new foundation. How should I prep my skin and what should I use? Especially for primer.

Re: Applying makeup

@BeanaTK what skincare prep and primer are you currently using?  There's no one perfect routine or primer that works universally for everyone; everyone's skin is different so it's often a matter of trial and error.  Have you tried switching up the products that you use yet?

Re: Applying makeup

@CookieGirl1

Youth To The People Superfood Gentle Antioxidant Refillable Cleanser
Herbivore Jasmine Green Tea Oil Control Toner 4 oz/ 120 mL

The INKEY List Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL

Selfless by Hyram Peptide Q10 & Ginger Daily Defense Antioxidant Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops Serum

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA +++ 1.7 oz/ 50 mL

that’s my normal morning skincare routine than I use MILK MAKEUP Pore Eclipse Mattifying + Blurring Makeup Primer with Niacinamide Translucent

I don’t know if anything is conflicting with each other. I do have combination skin but I’m winter it’s a little more to the dry side compared to summer where it’s more oily. I don’t know if that specific primer is conflicting with HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation with Fermented Arnica 100 Light Neutral

Re: Applying makeup

@CookieGirl1 pilling, do I don’t know if I should use a different primer that would better suit with that foundation.

Re: Applying makeup

@BeanaTK if you're having a problem with pilling right after you apply your primer, it's obviously a problem between your skincare and the primer and one of those needs to be adjusted.  If you only notice the issue after you've applied your foundation, I would definitely suggest a different primer.  Do you prefer a matte vs glowy primer, smoothing/blurring...is there a specific type of primer that you tend to like?  Which one are you using now and have you actually tried others with the foundation yet?

Re: Applying makeup

@BeanaTK are you experiencing pilling with the foundation or is it primarily that it just doesn't sit nicely or look smooth?  Do you have other foundations that DO work well for you?
