Hi there @meganbrid
I've become a lip balm fanatic over the past few years so I'm gonna warn you, I'm about to write a lot... hope some of it helps!! I actually have a bag reserved for only lippies that I take everywhere in my purse...😅 Until I read your post I thought that I was like the only person ever who didn't fall in love with the Laniege lip mask - LOL...
Despite my incredibly long lists below, I have a really hard time finding a lip balm / lipstick / mask that doesn't irritate my skin or is too oily or bleeds over onto the skin surrounding my lips, that's usually a straight-up nightmare ... so lip oils, the majority of lippies in general I try aren't a fit at all for me so, I swear the ones listed below as it's taken me awhile to amass my stash & become a bit of a hoarder when it comes to lip balms / lip masks / lip plumper - OMG... this is my life now I guess 🙂
Some are on the pricier side (but I think worth it if they are) & a lot of them are at a good price point so there's a range... my 3 faves are the Omorovicza, YSL & Dr. Sebagh which are all expensive but do last a long time...
First, I LOVE the YSL Volupte Balms- absolutely amazing, definitely more expensive, but absolutely worth it in my experience.... I've used religiously for ~4 years & haven't had chapped /dry lips in so long which is usually a constant here in NY with frigid winter temps.
Prior to using this every day, I also had a VERY noticeable scar - a long horizontal line across my bottom lip from biting down on it after having dental surgery when I was younger- of course, I was explicitly told not to do that but did & didn't feel a thing but it left the deepest line that would always become so visible especially during winter. I had that line from the 8th grade until I was like 40 & it's gone!
However unfortunately, they changed it up a bit & the original Volupte in Balm formulation I'm addicted to is no longer available (it had a silver case & a black heart in the middle of the lippie itself)... luckily, I stocked up on them when they were clearing them out- literally bought 6 & only use 1-2 a year.... I don't like the replacement as much but it's still very good. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick Balm 123 nude Transparent
Yves Saint Laurent Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick
of the two, I like the Volupte Shine Lipstick Balm better than the Glaze Lip Gloss Stick- the Glaze Lip Stick goes on thicker & is softer overall so I don't think I'll get anywhere near the longevity I have had with the others
My absolute favorite is from Omorovicza - it's called The Perfecting Lip Balm, it's the best lip balm I've ever used, it's a traditional round balm that you apply with your finger. It's perfection... keeps you hydrated, plumps up lines, feels really great on & is the perfect weight / thickness....
Also not at Sephora, but really good:
- Rodial Pink Diamond Lip & Eye Filler
- EVER Peptide Lip Balm
- CONTEXT Nude Balm
- any of the Lipstickqueen lipsticks or balms if you can find them!
- a simple pink lip balm called GLOW for a cause Lip Love that I received in a sub box is one I've bought a
few of & they are less than $10
- I've had really good luck with most of the tarte lip balms- one of them was just on sale for like $15.00 off
that I purchased from Sephora last week - tarte SEA Quench Lip Rescue Balm Nude
- By TERRY Baume De Rose
- Jane Iredale Lip Drink LIp Balm in sheer (also has SPF)
- Evertly CBD Infused Lip Butter
- Dr. Sebagh Lip Balm (amazing!!!)
Here are ones that SEPHORA carries that I have & definitely recommend:
Gucci Glow & Care Shine Lipstick They Met in Argentina - really nice multi-tasker; works as a balm &
adds nice color (lots of shades to choose from but this is my favorite- it's also a limited edition with a
gorgeous looking case that's different from the other shades)
LAWLESS Forget the Filler Lip-Plumping Line-Smoothing Tinted Lip Balm Georgie
-- purchased a few months ago & love it for some reason; it's not terribly hydrating but there's something about it that I like
Kosas Kosasport LipFuel Hyaluronic Acid Lip Balm Rush
- I have a couple of these, also affordable & with no sketchy ingredients... I like them a lot
DIOR Lip Maximizer Serum 0.17 oz/ 5mL
- a lot of mixed reviews but I love how it feels, it really does feel like a serum...
Grande Cosmetics GrandePOUT Plumping Lip Mask
-- this is my favorite lip mask so far, I haven't liked
most of the ones that are so popular but this is different
Givenchy Rouge Interdit Vinyl Color Enhancing Lipstick 16 Noir Revelateur - Really nice hydration & is one of those shade-shifting lippies that reacts to the pH of your lips to give you a unique shade... it's a beautiful black lipstick but appears as a berry(ish) shade that looks nice on everyone I've seen it on... they also have a pink version called Le Rouge Perfecto which is just as hydrating & adds a unique shade too- I have a darker complexion, hair & eyes so prefer the black
Rosebud Perfume Co. Minted Rose Lip Balm Minted Rose Lip Balm (all of their balms in the tins do an amazing job repairing really dry lips & the dry skin that can start at the corners of your mouth, etc... It's also a steal...
Hope you find something that works well for you! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, as you can see I enjoy chatting about them- take care!
