Need a new lip scrub

Hello!

Long story short I have insanely bad lips to the point where they’ve basically regularly peeled off for as long as I can remember. I’ve been making a lip routine to combat this, but am struggling with the scrub.

I’m currently using a jar from Jeffree Star that’s getting close to empty. I love it A LOT because it’s super grainy and aggressive on my excessive dead skin, but I really don’t like the idea of continuing to buy from there. I’ve tried almost every scrub on the Sephora app and it’s insane how ineffective they all are. I guess “normal” people don’t like aggressive scrubs? Lol

Does anyone have any suggestions for a lip scrub that actually scrubs and also doesn’t support crazy drama people? The closest I’ve gotten to what I want (from Sephora) is the Fenty scrub stick thing, but it gets used up insanely fast.

Hi @Bluedal3k ! Have you ever seen a dermatologist or your primary care doctor about your constantly peeling lips?

Over-exfoliating your lips to remove all the flakes can worsen the situation, causing more peeling/flaking. (Same goes for over-exfoliating other skin on your face.) Consider pausing the lip scrubs for a while and just applying a super moisturizing/occlusive lip balm while your lips are damp (with water, not saliva) to seal in hydration. Try a thick petrolatum-based balm: Vaseline, any other petroleum jelly, CeraVe Healing Ointment, or my personal fave, Aquaphor Ointment. If your skin is sensitive to lanolin, note that this ingredient's in Aquaphor and try a different product instead.

Whichever balm you choose, use it without exfoliating your lips until they're in better shape. Then you can go back to lip scrubs, but try to use them just once or twice a week at most. I usually exfoliate my lips just once every 2-4 weeks. Also, you don't need the harshest scrub available; that can cause more damage, leading to more peeling. You can even just use an old wet toothbrush or a wet terrycloth washcloth to exfoliate your lips.
